This is the sequel to The Atomic Banana Saves The Day. I hope you enjoy it.
A JAM-PACKED ATOMIC ADVENTURE
By Kimberly Lovell
Remember, when last we visited No Man’s Land, Jack had just saved King Cornelius Coconut with his now famous Coconut Split Salve. Well, early one morning not long after that, Jack was hard at work on a new antidote - that’s a cure for those who don’t know - when a tapping was heard on his shack.
“Who’s there?” he called. “Peach’s Messenger Service,” a voice rang out. “Come in! Come in!” yelled Jack and in rushed Pete the Peach with an urgent message. “Jack, Jack, hurry, hurry! Your cousin, Bob, needs you right away! Jodi and Jenni, his twin bananas, were playing in the yard and a terrible thing happened! Jenni’s skin began to crack and then to peel!”
Jack shrieked, “Oh my! Oh my! That just can’t be! She’s much too young to crack and peel! Let’s go! Let’s go! Not a second to be lost! I’ll get this and you get that!” Jack cried as he grabbed his bag and pointed to a tray and drying cloths. Quickly, they ran down the lane made of cobblestone fruit to the tracks of the Neutron Express where they were met by Chester the Chili Pepper.
“Hello, Hello!” Chester greeted them cheerfully as he extended a leaf - instead of a hand. “Name’s Bond, Chester Bond, Conductor Extraordinaire,” said Chester in a puffed up voice. “No time! No time!” Jack exclaimed waving his hand as he hurried on by.
Pete chimed in, “Emergency! Must go, must go! Life and death!”
“Then, hop aboard! We’ll be on our way!” announced Chester as he started the train.
A jump and a jolt, then the train sped away, as Jack began to explain. Soon they were there and not a moment too soon! Jack’s cousin, Bob, was there frantically waving his hands. Jack jumped off in a flash as the train slowed to a stop and Bob, Jack and Pete raced off to Bob’s place where Jenni waited with tears on her face.
Jack dried off her tears and said, “We’ve no need of those.”
Quickly he poured and he mixed, then dampened a cloth and patted the cracks and sealed up the peels. And just to be sure, he brushed his Banana Peeling Retardant from her head to her toes - neutrons, you know.
“Now, we’ll wait for a while,” Jack said with a smile. And he sang her to sleep with an old lullaby.
Jack sat by her side till both were asleep then early next morn Jenni woke with a stretch and yawned with a sigh, then screeched with delight, “I’m healed! I’m healed!”
Jack woke with a start and Bob and Betty Banana rushed to his side. Jack checked Jenni out and no cracks could be found. She was healed from her head to the tip of her toes - neutrons, you know.
Once again, wouldn't you know, Jack saves the day!
