We got home this afternoon from the beach and wow, what a great time! The weather cooperated perfectly for us ( amiracle on the OR coast in March!) and we enjoyed a lot of time actually down on the beach. We built sand castles, had a fire on the beach while watching the sunset, played games and just enjoyed hanging out. We even got to use some swings on the beach and the kids had fun flying up over the ocean.
We stayed in a nice little house in Rockaway Beach, OR. It was nice to be able to make our own food and eat in a kitchen rather than eat out every meal. I do feel slightly sad that I didn't get any clam chowder while there though. I'm going back in three weeks without the kiddos though so I'll get some then. Yum!
Today on the way home we stopped at the Tillamook Cheese Factory and toured the factory, watching them make cheese. The kids were fascinated, especially Gideon. Then we walked down to the ice cream shop and had huge ice cream cones with ice cream made right there in the factory. It was delicious!
Mostly, it was just a really great trip! I'm so glad we went, even though it was very last minute. Sometimes being spontaneous really pays off!
Oh, and I'll have photos for you throughout the week. Here's one to part with, the beautiful sunset we watched by the fire.
