This was some time ago, but this is a short excerpt from my book as well.
Here's what I purchased:
7 Boxes General Mills Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereals
7 Boxes Nature Valley granola bars -
2 Curves Granola bars
1 Colgate Toothpaste
1 soda
All items were on sale except the soda! How much do
you think I spent? $20? $40? $60?
My grand total after sales and coupons was $4.20!!! That
was a savings of $60.33, or 94%!
Now, here's how I did it.
Coupons used:
Cereal was on sale for $2 per box.
7 boxes @ $2 each less 7 coupons for $1 off 1 GM Cereal
= $7.
Nature's Valley Granola Bars were on sale for $2 per box.
7 boxes @ $2 each less 7 coupons for $1 off 1 = $7.
Curves Granola bars were on sale for $2 per box.
2 boxes @ $2 each, less 2 coupons for $0.50 off 1 = $3.
Colgate Toothpaste was on sale 10 for $10, or $1 each.
1 toothpaste @ $1 less coupon for $1 off 1 = FREE
1 20 oz. Coke - no sale, paid full price.
The store was running a promotion where you received
an additional discount of $4 off when you purchased 4
General Mills products. Since I purchased 16 products, I
received an additional $16 off my total.
Grand total after sale & coupons - $4.20!!! Essentially I
paid for the coke and sales tax. Plus I picked up a raincheck
for 10 more Colgate Toothpastes that I went back and got
for free later.
Total savings $60.33 or a 94% savings!
