Once every 7 years, the Eiffel Tower every crevice, nut, bolt and beam of the Eiffel Tower is re-painted by hand. The crew consists of 25 painters from Greece & Romania and the special pain comes from Norway.
The project costs a total of $5.29 million. The painting of the tower is requires an estimated 66 tons of patented, signature "Eiffel Tower brown" paint, 31 miles of climbing rope, and 18 months of work by painters willing to scale the lofty beams.
The painters still work with small, circular brushes, as they did in 1889, instead of sprayers or paint-rollers. In the 7 years between paintings about 55 tons of paint errodes.
This year's paint is lead-free, just like last years!
I thought this was really interesting so I thought I would share with everyone! :)
