Over the past few years, our family has worked at starting new traditions, and staying home on major holidays. For the most part, it hasn't been a huge problem. We live over an hour from any family, and with 3 kids, it's always been a huge hassle to get them up early, and into the car.
It throws off their schedules, and ours. It's always chaos, and never much fun for the adults. When my grandma passed away, so did the family get togethers on that side of the family. She was always in charge of them, and afterwards, everyone drifted apart. That was the house I always went to, so when we got married, we kept that tradition of mine.
This year will be our 2nd Easter at home. Actually, it's the third- we did it one year before my Grandma died, when they were still in Florida for the winter. It's always a lot more relaxing to be able to get up at our own pace, and get everything set up, and make our own dinner.
This year, we're having ham, which is my standard Easter favorite. Nick wanted Turkey- we did Turkey for Thanksgiving, and at Christmas we did both a Turkey and a Ham. Now, it's time for just ham. Mmm... I love ham.
However, this weekend, we are going to my Grandpa's house for my niece's 2nd birthday, and we're doing Easter at that time. No big meal, but I picked up baskets at Goodwill yesterday for all the kids age 15 and under, and went to Dollar Tree to grab a few small items for each one. Nothing big, but the kids will like them.
My mom is picking up items for an egg hunt, and I have a ton of eggs here from Goodwill that I've been picking up cheap. I need to make sure to get them back afterwards, though, since I'll be using them for our own egg hunt the following weekend.
What are your Easter plans?

Elliott's basket is almost complete. We're going to the Easter egg hunt at my husband's work this Saturday, and we're organizing the Sunday School Easter party for next Saturday.
We'll have ham as well... hubby's favorite!
Being unmarried, childless and with friends far away, there isn't any reason to really celebrate holidays.
