What A Special Person

Earlier, I was watching Joel Osteen and he told this story that really touched me.  It is about a young woman whose father died and she was in another city.  Evidently, she was very close to her father and while at the airport waiting for her flight, she began sobbing and suddenly these two big arms wrapped around her and a familiar voice asked what was wrong.  She looked up and the voice was that of Kevin Costner.  He sat there and listened to her and comforted her and even refused to catch his own flight to stay with her until she boarded her flight.

Before she left, he told her he'd be filming in the area soon and asked her to come by the set and let him know how she was.  A while later, she was stopped in traffic and noticed a film being made in a nearby park but didn't have time to stop.  On the way back from her appointment, she saw the movie company again and stopped to see if it was his film.  Sure enough, it was and she told the security guard to please tell Kevin that the girl crying at the airport was there.  Soon, they escorted her to a spot next to the filming and she sat down to watch them work.

A few minutes later, an executive with the production sat down next to her and they began to talk.  It was like they'd known each other for years and that night she called her mother and said she'd met the man she was going to marry.  About a year later, they did marry but isn't it interesting that her father's death led to that.

What I was most impressed with was Kevin Costner's compassion and willingness to put himself aside to comfort her.  Very few people in this world would have done what he did and I think that was really special.

Even more coincidentally was the fact that I had just been watching a movie with him in it when I heard this story and something in the film inspired me to begin writing a poem/song I'm working on.  It's not finished but I'll post it when it is.

Anyway, I just had to share that with you guys.
