Last week’s Amazing Race 14 saw a close call at the mat as Christie and Jodi almost came back from their U-Turn, but in the end went home. Tonight the remaining teams leave India to head to Thailand, promising to kick up the heat and almost knock out Margie. Tammy and Victor were first to learn they were heading to Thailand and were given only a picture to find their next clue. Tammy was there before so it could help them but it seems she was being held by her parents, so maybe not. Mel/Mike were also excited for the Thailand and wanted to just have “fun”. As the rest of the teams left the mat Margie was excited, she’ll be dreading that excitement a little later. Before leaving India there was still time for culture as Kisha let little kids rip money from her hands. IT was very surreal to see but things quickly changed to airport drama.
Everyone ended up on the same flight, equalizing them out as they traveled to Phuket, Thailand. At their arrival it was time for a taxi race to the monkey statue, their only clue to their next location. Mike/Mel left several minutes after the rest, as they had bad luck with a taxi, but it seems others weren’t having much. Nobody really had a clue where they were going so they went to the street shouting out “gorilla”. Once one found out where it was the rest followed except for Mike/Mel. They kept driving while the rest headed to the Phuket Zoo. Guys you are going to the wrong spot!
Once they found the gorilla it was time for some craziness. The teams had to first take a picture with a tiger then allow elephants to walk over them. Mike/Mark were up first and noticed the handler had only one arm. It was actually kind of scary considering they were only a few inches from the tiger’s head. All three teams who arrived first got their pictures taken while Tammy/Victor and Margie/Luke followed. Mel and Mike headed to the beach, still thinking that was the right spot and were completely wrong. It was then time for the others to get walked over by elephants though, putting Mark/Mike in first. They then had to make their way to an herb shop in Phuket where they had to search shelves for a clue, 99 of them to be exact.
After getting told the gorilla was at the Phuket Zoo over five times, Mel/Mike finally headed to the zoo while everyone was already gone. It was then time for a new team name: the Tweedles. That equals Mike/Mark as Jaime and Cara described their new name. They both arrived at the herb shop and it was time to pick a shelve and time for Jaime to freak out, yet again, about people not speaking English. Mark/Mike got their clue first as Kisha/Jen arrived and it was time for their Detour. They had to either fill and load barrels onto a ship or pull a rickshaw over two miles. Mark/Mike chose the pulling as the other guys got their elephant on at the zoo. The two were FINALLY off to the herb shop while the rest arrived there.
Kisha and Jen were next to find their clue and went with the barrels followed by Margie/Luke who chose the two mile hike. Jaime/Cara were first at the shop yet were still there while the rest got their clue. Tammy/Victor were able to find their clue next while Jaime/Cara FINALLY found it after screaming at the poor pulling guy. At the rickshaw, Mark and Mike had to pump up their bike and screwed up the rest by placing the pump under all the tools. At the shop Mark/Mel were pulling for their clues and had fun with it, unlike some other teams. At the Detour some teams had trouble finding the barrels so Cara/Jaime pulled Margie/Luke to do the rickshaw. Mark/Mike were having a good time with the rickshaw at least as they played it smart by following their taxi.
Finally finding their clue, Mike/Mel headed to the barrel task to hopefully catch up some time. Mark/Mike were able to find the final location and were in a good lead, after almost being eliminated last time around. Cara/Jaime then joined the rickshaw fun with some screaming. They ran without any clue of where to go as Mark/Mike were sent to the Pit Stop. Back at the barrels, Kisha/Jen finally found the location and began filling their barrels of water. While the rest complained about the heat, Mark/Mike arrived at the mat first BUT had to wait an hour for breaking the rules: tampering with the Detour and hiring help to lead them to their location. Ok maybe their good moves weren’t so great after all.
Back on the streets Victor wouldn’t’ let Tammy pull the cart while the rest continued pushing on. Mike/Mel finally found the barrel task giving Kisha/Jen some competition. For the rickshaws Margie was having issues as she couldn’t communicate with Luke while in the back. To fix that problem she pulled the cart herself, possibly hurting her in the end. Tammy/Victor were also having issues as they dropped their rickshaw too early and had to go back to get it. That left Jaime/Cara pass them, putting them into a race for possible first. Margie/Luke finished the cart as Margie discussed possibly passing out. Oh foreshadowing.
With four minutes left in their penalty, Tammy/Victor arrived making them the REAL first place team and giving them their third first place. Jaime/Cara arrived during the penalty as well and they were excited to be in second. Mark/Mike were then able to check in and that put them in third. They weren’t too happy but at least they weren’t going home. It was then time for Margie/Luke to check in and time for the moment we’ve all been waiting for. After learning they were team four Luke jumped for joy while Margie fell to the ground after being called the bionic women by Phil. He jumped to Margie’s aid as she passed out as most of the crew sprung into action. An ambulance was on its way but Margie told them to keep it away, Luke sure was scared though.
Back into the action Kisha/Jen finished their Detour while Mike/Mel were left by themselves. At the Pit Stop Kisha/Jen couldn’t find the entrance since they were dropped off at the wrong place. That gave Mark/Mel some time to catch up, but since their taxi was somewhat direction-stupid things weren’t looking too good. Kisha/Jen finally found a taxi and it was yet another race to the mat. The ladies arrived first which put them in fifth place, meaning Mark/Mel were the last team to check in. Phil told them they were eliminated, which is sad, but next week will surely have a twist. I’m guessing. We haven’t seen the Fast Forward yet so could it spring up? I highly believe so!
