Like save the water, save your electric, save the planet ? What do these mean to you and how are you personally 'conserving' what you do have ? What recycling methods do you practice in your home, car, community ? I mean it does not have to be an elaborate plan of conservation, something like turning off a lightbulb when its not being used, OR turning the water off while brushing your teeth OR not having an intense 'nightlight' in every room, even those that are unoccupied !
lets discuss . . .
Program to recycle/recondition ALL batteries

Thanks Nancy... it is good to know that grandchildren actually listen better when grandparents are very smart and have had experience with such things as loss of power, loss of wages and just plain good ole experience ! My grandparents always taught me wise things and it was just great to learn from them. Thanks for sharing . . .
I found actually plugging everything back in, after having the appliance unplugged, takes more juice to start it back up for regular use. Has anyone else heard of this ?
That would probably be true for things that have a long start up, like a t.v. with directv hooked up. I do not unplug my television because of this.
Otherwise, nothing else would take more juice to start it up. I unplug the coffee pot, toaster, microwave, lamps...etc.
Perhaps for large office building (I'VE HEARD), more juice is required..t'aint so with the average home usage.
I recycle everything that is recyclable...I save me rycyclabes for a friend doing serious battle with the economy. A pleasant double whammy.
Plus I still conserve on trips. Gas prices have begun to flip-flop again. We must force them ALL the way back down again.
we DO NOT buy bottled water
we recycle plastics, glass, cans
we DONATE all electronics, furniture and clothing we no longer use or replace to shelters and churches
we DO NOT overconsume
we compile several trips into ONE to save gas and cut down on fumes
we have two chickens to provide organic eggs and they also are awesome natural garden tillers ;)
and fun to watch =D
