Greece - Modern life

The Greeks are a people that is very diverse and you will see in Greece as many facets of  the Greek society as the number of the country islands. The Athenians are said to be extremely friendly and jovial, while Rhodes and Crete, very proud of their respective islands, see themselves primarily as Cretan and Rhodian before being Greek.

There is a tense rivalry between Greece and Turkey, and tourists should be aware of this historical conflict. This is so acute that sometimes it makes you hard to the Greek or Turkish border if your passport contains a stamp of entry or exit of any country.

During the day, many Greeks spend their time in traditional pubs to discuss politics or playing cards, political discussions and coffee are a national pastime. Today, young women are appearing in pubs, which are no longer strongholds of male, although women are often expected to look and attitudes of disapproval from the Greek men more conservative .
