This past week, my son's class went to the library. His Language Arts teacher has created a project that takes old school research techniques and that is what she wants for this project - to do real research - she is breaking the project down with several lessons on how to do the research and then how to write the project.
So, they went to the library. I sent my son with his library card that I had gotten for him in 2nd grade.
He came home and told me that his card was taken out of the system and he needed to get a new card. He also said that my card was probably not good anymore too. So, I decided that we would hit the library on the weekend.
That is exactly what we did today after my son's karate class. We went, I re-did our cards, and he took out the books he needed for his project.
What I don't understand is why they took us out of their system. We haven't been there in a couple of years but it wasn't that long that they should remove us.
I told my husband we should go to the library a couple of times during the month and take out some DVD's and CD's instead of buying them. There are quite a few movies that my son and I haven't seen in the theatre that we wanted to buy. Why buy them when we can take them out for free and watch them as many times as we want to before returning? Why not take out cd's that I can put on my iPod for nothing.
I noticed that they have Blu Ray discs too. We're going to save a lot of money by taking things out of the library instead of buying them. We'll also be doing things for the environment because we won't have to unwrap them and throw out the plastic!
I love the library and think people should go to their local library! Such a great place.
Good for your mind, good for your pocket and good for the environment!
