Lars Ulrich Wises Up… A Little..to consult with Trent Reznor about leaving the major record label business

 Metallica may be the next act to leave a major label. In fact, Lars plans to consult with Trent Reznor and pick his brain about new models.

When asked the question "Are labels still important?" Lars responds with:

"Without offending any of the good people from the record company,no," said Lars. When you're fortunate enough to be successful, you don't need to rely on record companies as the banks."

Trent Reznor chose to leave the major label system and embrace online distribution and file sharing.

Of course he did, that would mean more money in his pocket and another dollar for his private jet... Love us some Metallica, but when Lars talks the biz it just twists me up a little. Also, how he discussed this while pimping the Guitar Hero Metallica Game....

Lars pimps the Metallica Guitar Hero game, so what, it is money in all of the members of Metallica's pockets, not just Lars. He may be the spokesperson in a way, but who honestly would turn down "free" money and publicity to get their music and name out there to everyone. I get tired of Lars going off sometimes, but he isn't as bad as he use to be.
