I think Pitbull Terriers have been wrongfully discriminated against for way too long. I received this email from Woof Report. It's a documentary that debunks the myth of Pitbulls being the vicious dogs people sterotype them to be. If these dogs can be discriminated against and banned, then other large breeds that are known for 'aggessive or protectiveness', ie; Doberman, German Shepherd, Rottweiller, the various Bull Dog breeds,Chow-Chowss..etc..... can be discriminated against and banned. After the larger dogs become banned, then our precious small lap dogs can and will become targets. ALL DOGS have the ability to become aggressive and cause harm to humans or other pets. It's not just the Pit Bull. I hope people will watch this documentary with an open mind. All dog owners should take banning these dogs seriously. One day it just may be yours.

New Film Explores Facts & Fiction Behind Pit Bull Stereotypes | March 26, 2009
Stereotypes exist everywhere, even in the dog world. Whether they deserved it or not, in the 70's Americans feared Dobermans, in the 90's, Rottweilers, and today, the much maligned Pit Bull brings fear and wrath to many people. In fact, the Pit Bull is not only stigmatized as a vicious animal, but Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) actually makes it illegal to own or care for them in some cities, including Denver and Cincinnati. But anyone who's ever known or loved a Pit Bull knows this perception is undeserved. That's why Libby Sherrill, writer, producer and director of Beyond the Myth created this powerful documentary about BSL and its devastating effect on the Pit Bull.
Sherrill's first film, Beyond the Myth, developed for her senior graduate school project at the University of Tennessee, "challenges the idea that Pit Bulls are inherently vicious and goes one-on-one with people on both sides of this controversial issue." It introduces you to the people who defend the breed amidst the growing fear and discrimination that's sweeping the nation. And attempts to answer the tricky question: "What exactly is a Pit Bull?" Since the "Pit Bull" is not a breed, but is generally defined as any dog that is an American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, or any dog displaying the majority of physical traits of any one of those breeds, it's harder than you might think to define. Especially, when there are still more varying definitions of the name (more on that here).
Beyond the Myth is slated to premiere in Knoxville in April or May with a possible online screening at some point. Check out the links below to learn more and stay posted on the upcoming release of the film.

I live the truth about these dogs every day.
They are fighting to have BSL overturned there. The Netherlands lifted their ban, I am hoping the sanity will spread to this country.
Thank you everyone!

Nikki--that is the best license plate I've seen yet!
Nikki, that is a great license plate! And, I'm so happy to report that even though spring has sprung, Phoebe is on Zyrtec this time and there are hardly any hives on that beautiful girl - Thank You, Lord!! It's so great to see her all super charged because she's not so tired from the Benadryl and she's not all itchy from the hives - it's just been great to watch her play and really enjoy some of our adventure walks!
Oh, speaking of repealing in Denver - if anyone has not signed the petition to boycott in Denver, please go to http://www.roverlution.org and go to the bottom of the page there for the petition info. Thank you!
Thanks to everyone who keep writing good articles, who come out and leave good comments, and all those who make safe and healthy homes for pit bull types who then show neighbors just how wonderful they really are with kids and other pets - there is no way that I want to imagine a world without these magnificent canines and sweet love bugs! God Bless all of you, Shauna & Phoebe
As much as I admire these dogs, I have to admit I've never owned one, but have known many responsible people who have. I hear the same from all of them, that they are great dogs. Very affectionate and loyal.
