It gives you an ulcer. Ok in fairness we aren't sure I have an ulcer yet but i did have the test run. But it's better than having worms!
Wednesday night i stayed up gathering until around 1 am. About an hour later than normal but I was catching up on my Debt Busters group. My daughter has been sick for two weeks and is finally getting better so i saw it as the perfect time, my husband was sound asleep next to me so he didn't care. So I finished up and went to bed.
About 1.20 am I started to feel like I was hungry. I thought this was odd, I had had a huge dinner. By a quarter till 2 I had given up and decided to go get a snack, a pudding cup (which i bought on sale with a coupon!) It seemed like it was going to help so I went back up to bed.
2.11 my husband's car alarm went off sending me flying out of bed. Since his car is just outside the window on my side of the bed (i am on the 2nd floor but what difference does that make at 2 am?) We look around and nothing, well earlier that day I had tweaked my back. With my daughter being sick i was unable to do the excersices that keep my back pain at bay. Well jumping out of bed like I did - BAD IDEAD! Now i couldn't move very well and I was still hungry and no sleep yet.
I told my husband i'd be back im gonna go eat something. Have you ever tried to eat something at 2 am? You don't want to cook but you know it shouldn't be junk food or it'll keep you up all night. I just decided on a piece of bread and went back up stairs. Now this made it worse. I started to feel like I hadn't eaten in days.
What was odd, I told my husband, is that I feel like I am starving but there is no gurgling or "talking" going on in my stomach. It's then I remembered the puppy!
Ok about a month ago we rescued a puppy who had worms. Now I was pretty sure that I was clean about the puppy washing hands and all but at 2.30 am the idea is feasible. I could have worms. Now i'm freaked out.
The night moves on more and more pain, nothing helping pink stuff (pepto bismol) excederine, nothing. Finally after my husband put bengay on my back I feel asleep around 4 am.
Next morning around 10 or 11 am I call my doctor. Yes after I goggled worms, another bad idea. You see all the symptoms i was having and my daughter over the past two weeks were on this list. And they still aren't sure what's wrong with my daughter, freaking me out more, we could both have WORMS! They got me in at 2.15.
2.15 I go in and tell the nurse all about it and she looks at me funny. That's odd! I know that's why I am here *sweet smile*. It takes her 20 minutes to get a temp you see short nurse tall woman on a table this doesn't mix well.
Doctor comes in I tell her the whole story and she says some big fancy name I can't remember. I stare at her blankly. Dr. L we will call her, ask have you been stressed? I try not to laugh and put on a brave face, a little more than usual. She asks how so, i explain about my daughter, layoffs at my husband's job and so on. She nodds, have you been taking any pain killers. Ok here we go yes, but not a lot, i name off my list. She nodds. She asks if eating makes the pain better or worse I say worse. Does the pain move? No. Any back pain? I explain about tweaking my back. *some more too personal for gather questions* And she goes ok you have *fancy word again*. Basically you've stripped your stomach. We are going to run some tests and make sure you don't have an ulcer. It's this time I tell her about the puppy and worms, she nodds and adds another test. But in the end it sounds like i have screwed up my stomach I am maxing out my body and it can't take much more. So i have to drink mylanta which tastes like liquid caulk with a hint of cherry before every meal and bed, I am on a PPI to reduce the production of stomach acids and as long as the tests come back normal (no ulcer) this should fix it. Other wise there are a lot more drugs that will be added to my list.
Guess we'll see. I am planning some vacation time and going to hit the grandparents up for a weekend of baby sitting. I might even, dare I say it, reduce my computer time! *GASP!*
No caffeine, no pain killers and no stress - that doesn't leave with much huh?! :0) What's left? A & W root beer!
So now you know, watch the pain killers and stress, even if you are in yours mid 20's.... *sigh*

Oh, and if the A& W doesn't help...try Vernors. Vernors will settle the tummy and I find it to be a cure for almost anything...LOL.
