{What Easter Is - part 1}
DAY OF CRUCIFIXION
© Robert Burnham
Did you see the blackened sky
As they nailed Him to the cross
Did you see tears in Mary's eyes
Did you contemplate her loss
Or were your eyes shut tight
Self-blinded to the cost
Did you listen when they mocked Him
Did you hear them curse His name
Did you hear the silence of His disciples
As they turned and ran in shame
Or were your ears waxed shut
To the lonely cries of His pain
Did you shout out in protest
At the cruel things that were done
Did you forget how to speak
As though the cat had your tongue
Were your lips glued tight together
While they crucified God's Son

We live in a time when we seem to be hampered by all of the sludge and grudge that is around us. At times, feeling as though we are drowning with a life preserver in sight. Yet, even in the midst of the fierce battle that the enemy is waging against us; God is standing with His arms stretched out wide, to hold us and walk with us through the fire and stench. Yes, we'd wish He'd just take us out of it, but then we wouldn't know or understand His unselfish and sanctifying love. And that we truly can stand tall in the midst of all adversity.
Dearest brother, whatever demons may be nipping at your heels, and bombarding you this day, I stand in agreement with you, as well as pray for you, that you will find comfort and strength in th eknowledge that God is fighting just for you. You must be doing something right for the enemy to be working so hard to stop you. You are a threat to his kingdom. WHich is eveident by the poem you just shared.
Keep fighting. Keep writing. Keep sharing. And God will always see you through. God Bless.
