14-year-old Girl Faces Porn Charges For Nude Photos

A 14-year-old New Jersey girl has been accused of distributing child pornography after posting nearly 30 explicit nude pictures of herself on MySpace.com — charges that could force her to register as a sex offender if convicted.

The case comes as prosecutors nationwide pursue child pornography cases resulting from kids sending nude photos to one another over cell phones and e-mail.

MySpace would not comment on the New Jersey investigation, but the company has a team that reviews its network for inappropriate images. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tipped off a state task force, which alerted the Passaic County Sheriff's Office.

The kid probably didn't know the consequences that came with posting pictures of herself online.  It would suck having to register as a sex offender for posting pictures of yourself online.  Hopefully they just teach her a lesson and maybe a fine for her parents.

I don't think she should have to register as a sex offender, but she should be punished. I'm glad they're cracking down on this crap. I'm glad I didn't grow up with the internet as I seem to have more sense than some of these kids nowadays.

This is just about the stupidest thing kids are doing these days. I'll go along with not registering her, because I think those registers are just about as stupid, but she needs some SERIOUS consequences.

I would bet because they are under 18 they think they can "get away" with it. Sad, because so many might not look at those pictures the same way when they are older.

She should be punished but not registered, it seems like she is not as much as threat as a real sex offender. Don't law enforcers have something better to do?

She should face more punishment than a slap on the wrist so that she might learn an important lesson, but certainly doesn't count as a sex offender. Then again, you have to wonder what makes a 14 year old take nude pictures of herself, and post them on the internet.

I hate when teens feel they have to do something like this for attention. She probably has low self esteem and was looking for male attention to make her feel a little better. I think Myspace needs to review the photos before allowing them to show up on the site. She should get punished but I'm no9t sure what her punishment should be, since I don't make laws or anything. I don't think she should have to spend the rest of her life marked as a sex offender though.

Why on earth would a CHILD be convicted of any kind of crime for doing this? Shame on the system for wanting to do something like that.

Yes, having worked with high school students, I learned it is all the rage to send each other naked photos. Something should be done about it but prosecuting her as a child ponographer? That's ridiculous.

I don' think she should;d have to registrar as a sex offender. She is still a child for petes sakes. She should be punished though so she knows its not ok. I think these kids should have to talk to people that have been through the consequences of these actions.

What will they think of next? While it was not okay for her to post the pics, she still should not have to register as a sex offender. Definitely a punishment should take place.
