This phrase woke me up in the middle of the night along with the thought, "This is the book of poetry you will write." And so, here is another poem, dedicated to the life I share with my daughter and the chaos addiction causes.
BROKEN MIRRORS
I am surrounded
by silver shards,
reality destroyed,
rearranged,
by mere slivers
scattered
upon the ground.
It was once a mirror.
In reflections of me
I tried to see you,
but somehow
I lost you.
The mirror is broken.
Rage
Frustration
Helplessness
Misunderstanding
They each play their part
meandering through my mind,
making me look again
and again
for what I will not find.
You in me,
me in you.
And in one great shout
of horror,
dispair,
the mirror broke.
I see not me.
I see not you.
But when the sun rises
on the new dawn
something beautiful
will sparkle and dance
again.
