I have family court tomorrow.

 My husband and I are going through fertility treatment and will be undergoing In Vitro fertilization.  I had a partial hysterectomy in my early 20's so I do not have a uterus.  We have a gestational surrogate who is going to carry the baby for us.   She is my best friend and I don't know what I would do without her.  They will be taking my eggs and my husband's sperm and the embryos will then be transferred into her uterus.  Because of this, we have to go to court tomorrow morning.   All of us (including her and her husband) have to go before a judge and he will decided whether or not we can move forward. 

 In the state of Texas there are a few things that have to happen in order for this whole transaction to be legal. 

1.  Your surrogate has to be a resident of the state of Texas. 

2.  You have to finish all the legal paperwork before you can start the medical portion or your name will not be on the birth certificate.    

3.  Some judges require a home study and psychological testing.

  All of this comes at a very expensive price financially as well as from a time management perspective. My next appointment is on April 6th at 3PM.   It is a  " teaching appointment " (how to give myself injections),  because after that I have to start giving myself injections daily.  During that time I  am required to visit the doctor's office two or more times a week for ultrasounds and blood work, as well as help our surrogate with her medical and financial needs. I am at the mercy of the doctor's office and this whole cycle has a  very specific schedule I  must  abide by in order for it to be successful which is not making my employer happy.

 I have not shared much information about this HUGE thing going on in my life because at first I thought "What if it doesn't work out?"  I didn't want to have a bunch of questions and then have to explain it over and over again, having a constant reminder of what we wanted so bad.  But now I feel like I could use all the prayers and support I can get! 

 I will keep you all updated but please keep us in your thoughts!

We did fertility treatments years ago, although nothing as big as what you are doing. We adopted after 7 years, and I had a baby 2 years later. I do know how stressful it is, and you are certainly in my prayers. Good luck.

Good luck to you! What a wonderful friend you have. My sister was undergoing fertility treatments but could only afford a couple. She and her husband ended up adopting a son. The amazing part about it is that they adopted the child of another sister who had an unplanned pregnancy with an ex-boyfriend. Everyone is happy. The child is now 10 years old and yes, everyone knows, not a secret.
