Well, we've been predicting that Obama is trying his best to turn our country into more of a socialistic nation and now we have proof. ABC News posted an article that unveils Obama's financial plan to have the government more involved with our financial institutions and businesses. I, for one, am not happy about that as a business owner. I don't want the government sticking their nose into my business.
Benjamin Franklin was against overtaxing people in this country because the more people are taxed, the more the government is involved with people's business and the more they have the ability to restrict people's freedoms. That is happening in so many areas of our country. I want freedom not big government. I don't want people like Obama and Nancy Pelosi and their liberal agendas telling me how to live.
I want to be able to decide what is best for me myself. The problem out there is that we've raised a couple of generations of dependent minded people and so many people no longer want to take responsibility for their own lives and actions. They want someone to tell them what to do and they are just willing to hand over the freedoms that our forefathers fought and died for so that they don't have to do anything. What a lazy bunch of selfish people Americans have become.
I'm ashamed of our country's people who no longer want to get involved and don't appreciate what they have. No one wants to serve on jury duty because it's a bother. I bet you'd feel differently if you were the one who was facing a jury and wanted people who are more equal to your peers than a bunch of people who've been forced to serve deciding your fate.
I will be serving jury duty next month and even though it's inconvenient, I am proud to have the opportunity to be part of our judicial system. Now, I do think that jurors should be compensated better than they are. Not because they should get paid for serving but because a lot of us out here don't get paid for the days they serve by our employers and serving becomes a financial hardship. I think there needs to be a procedure that $5 per week is put aside for when we are called on to serve so that the company isn't saddled with the financial hardship and the individual is only out $5 a week. If the person never sees it, they won't really miss it. And, when that person leaves the company, they are entitled to have that money back if they haven't used it.
Of course, the best thing would be if the people themselves saved aside $5 a week from their checks to act as an emergency fund. Unfortunately, most people in this country don't seem to understand the concept of saving money. If they did, our country wouldn't be facing the financial crisis we are facing right now.
Well, I'd better get to work...

Helping you reach your gather goals!
You're right as well that we have created this problem by allowing people to become so reliant on the government for everything.
And you're right about jury duty. I was proud to find out that one of my relatives - a highly paid executive - was going to jury duty rather than getting the company to say that she was too valuable. I doubt that she was actually selected, since she's too conservative for most juries. I would think that could be the same for you. Have you actually been selected for a jury yet...or are you just in the selection process?
I've been saying it since before the election, but since a democrat wants to do it, its ok? Not in my book.
Doesn't matter who is in office
All he has done is wracked up debt! Talk of bailing out companies, and spent on his pet pork bill projects....
I definitely do NOT like Obama as a politician, I don't know him as a person so my judgement is based on his political skills and what he has shown since his campaign and nomination.
My opinion? He can go back to live where he was born, the place that has put a monument up where he was born.
Mooch
But you don't want business regulated?
Now about small business.
The biggest interferences in small business is at the city/county/state level.
Not from the federal government, except for paying the employer half of Social Secuirty and meeting minimum wages.
And it's odd that you rail against taxation and regulation in general, call for personal responsibility, and then in the same article call a $5 tax and a procedure (a regulation) for how it would work.
If you want higher pay for jury duty, it requires higher taxes. Shifting it around so that people don't notice the tax, or making so that they are basically paying for their jury duty out of their own pocket, does not make it different from a tax.
Thanks for posting to Big Boy is my second home!
