Adam Lambert surprised me (and Smokey Robinson) with his performance of "Tracks of My Tears" on American Idol. After two horrifying, yet interesting weeks, Adam Lambert came back as the standout contestant I once thought he was. He looked dashing – yes, I used the word "dashing" – with slicked back hair and a flashy yet classy silver suit. I don't care if he's gay or straight – he was a stud and completely mesmerized me, leaving me grinning ear to ear.
Adam Lambert slowed things down, sitting side by side with just a few musicians, making his version of "Tracks of My Tears" feel like a truly intimate performance. He clearly has the best voice on American Idol. Smokey Robinson looked on like a proud poppa when the song ended. I'm sure he was thinking that if Adam Lambert rerecorded the song it could make him even more money. Ching, Ching!
Adam, you are excused for your crazy American Idol performances over the last two weeks ago. You've won me over once again. Keep it class, Adam Lambert.
