Survivor Tocantins is back! Not really, it’s just time for the much loathed “never before seen scenes” show which usually has more recap then anything. They’ve promised a ton of new clips tonight though so I’m hoping we get more out of this one, but nothing can compete with last seasons auditions tapes! Oh Sugar how I miss thee! They really need to do All Stars again soon just to bring her back. Back to this season, it all starts off with very quick two minute recap, the fastest ever. Wow maybe this will finally be a REAL behind the scenes episode! Now this is what I’m talking about. Not sure why they did this but the intro video had Taj on Timberia? Uh WHAT? Not sure where that came from could it be some foreshadowing?
Ok I lied, apparently they are doing more recapping considering they’re back on the truck, but at least its new confessionals I guess. Although they did bypass the initial vote off of Sandy and Sierra it was time for brand new stuff. Jalapao had issues with their map, which is odd considering they made it to their camp so early. Taj had somewhat of an interesting confessional, being that she was so arrogant and just so wrong from how she really acts. Now this is what I like. New stuff! It makes sense though how they are doing it, meshing it into the overall timeline. My mind has flopped again, this new type of “new scenes” is actually really good!
Now at the Timberia camp it was back to Day 2 and time for some bag fishing. They caught a small guppy which Debbie went on to eat. Not sure how much that would really help her out, but the fruit they found could be helpful. Only issue was made they die of thirst, not sure what kind of fruit it was but sure didn’t sound appatizing. Jalapao had fire issues on Day 3 as Stephen just couldn’t get it started. JT and Joe couldn’t get it either which led Sydney to try. She got it in a few flicks, proving she isn’t exactly how the show usually portrays her. Back over on Timberia it was all about Tyson and his somewhat crazy antics. And we though Coach was crazy? We’re seeing more of Debbie for once though, which is nice but odd as well. She seems to have some good confessionals so not sure why it doesn’t make the usual show.
After some wildlife shots it was time for some Coach drama as he and Sierra had it out. He wanted her to make the beans, well told her to make the beans, and she didn’t understand why someone couldn’t help her. Sierra got grumpy from the demand while Coach didn’t understand how he was being condescending. Their argument then continued in private where Coach told Sierra that he was trying to “push Sierra out of the nest”. She seemed to agree with the actions he took and they had a hug, which was odd but nice. Sierra was shown, once again, over on Jalapao as she wanted to lift the shelter off the ground to remove themselves from the soot. She and JT then went to work, rebuilding their hut while leaving everyone else out.
Timberia was yet again shown as they are obviously the more entertaining of the two. The fight for leader was the topic of discussion as Brendan and Coach fought for power. They had a bench building contest where the girls judged which was the best. They wanted to have contests for everything, having the guys do all the work as they sat back and “judged”. Not sure who actually won though, but it seemed Coach’s was the most “comfy”. For Taj as Jalapao things were getting difficult as Jeff said her life at home was lavish compared to camp Survivor. She felt ugly due to the toll taken on her body and was very upset. It’s something we haven’t seen in Taj, a sad moment and it proves she’s human, in a sense, as the show has been portraying her as something more.
Day 10 was then upon us as Coach mentioned having a dream about a snake wrapped around neck. The next morning Debbie found a snake skin which freaked everyone out. Coach thought it could have been a real snake he saw which made things a bit scary for the rest. Jalapao didn’t seem to be too worried though as they played baseball with a hard seed they found. JT and Joe played some ball while Joe confessed about letting JT take over the game, taking the light off of him. It was obvious they were tight but we don’t see much game from Jalapao so its nice to actually see what’s going on in their minds.
Of course they quickly returned to Timberia, the crazy tribe, where Coach “conducted” his tribe mates in some sort of composition. He hummed out the music while waving his hands around. Erinn found the move a bit psycho but played all nice to keep herself save. Does she remind anyone else of Jenn Morasca lately? It was then time for alliance talk as Tyson and Coach officially aligned because they are “so alike”. Tyson doesn’t see him to be too much a player though, which could be interesting longer down the line. The Jalapao alliance of Stephen and JT was then brought up, being they are so different. They made an official final two alliance though which could be interesting as well, considering Stephen is apart of the Exile alliance.
It was then time to head to Exile during the time when Stephen and Brendan went. Brendan wanted to be as honest as he could with Stephen just to make him comfortable but as we all know, they isn’t the case. We finally got to see where they sleep in Exile, and that’s the ground. There is no Sugar Shack this time around, sadly and still no Sugar either. How sad. Brendan thought the group was going well while Stephen wasn’t so optimistic. He just wanted to get to the merge, which I have no doubt he will considering he has the secret idol. The adventure continues next Thursday when a REAL episode is on. This was goo
