Taking the trees down in our yard.

Last week we had a company come and take two Maple trees down in our yard. It was a little scary watching them up in the tall trees cutting them down. Here are some pictures of it.

Both men went up into the trees to secure it.

Then one cut away while the other stayed on the ground and did clean up and also held the secure line.

This split made me real nervous.

My oaks are dying. As they die, I usually cut them down myself. (Big trees) I have a chain saw. Then.....I cut the limbs off and then cut the trunk up. I sure would love to have that stump grinder. I dig around the stump and then take my ax and chop it up.....then I'm sore for days afterwards, LOL. However this past Christmas when I had a lot of company some of the men cut down my last dead oak for me. They cut it up and even got the stump up. I felt like I had been given the best Christmas ever. Now that the trees are greening-up again, I think I have one more that isn't going to make it. These are all big oaks and it breaks my heart that the "oak wilt" or "oak root-rot" got them, but it did.

Your pictures are really nice and it tells a tale all it's own. Thanks for sharing this adventure with us.

It is difficult for me to watch trees being taken down even when they are dead I know I will miss seeing them.

Both the trees had split trunks. They grew going in two directions. One was very close to the house and when we had storms it was dangerous. We enjoyed them for the 25 years that we have lived here. But, it was time to let them go. No we are not replacing them. We are aging too and we have had enough of the raking of the leaves on our property. We still have quite a few trees on our property and these won't be missed. Sorry to see them go, but we all have to at some time.

I know the feeling of it being a bit tense when watching the men cut down trees. I stood mesmerized when the tree cutters cut up the tree that had fallen on the house next door. But they were NOT professionals. Great pictures.

We've had a couple trees cut down and the company that does uses no heavy equipment. We didn't want the yard torn up. It's actually quite fascinating to watch.

I had this done and took photos just last week. I only had the trees trimmed though. It is scary to watch it being done.

We just wrapped a chain around an ugly 40' Mulberry tree between 2 houses and yanked it down last week. Good riddance.

Always amazed me here, with the tall palm trees, they have boots with pointed knives on the toes and climb with a running chain saw!
