A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I had two couples over to our house for dinner. We made this chicken casserole thing in the oven. It didn't have whole pieces of chicken in it, but bite size pieces of breast. This was the first time we had made it (dangerous I know, but we don't know a whole lot of recipes.)
We put it in for the specified time, and then pulled it out. It looked hot enough and done, but when we started digging in, we discovered that the chicken wasn't cooked. By that time though, we had served most of the plates and everyone had begun digging in.
What would you have done? Just kept eating and ignored it? Undercooked chicken certainly can be dangerous, but by that time it's too late to stick it back in the oven. Would you have ordered pizza or something instead?

I also usually cook the chicken separate some at first in a pan using boneless breasts, and then cut up to add to things like this.

If they had decided to wait and let it cook some more, then an offering of some kind of snack would have been nice.
