The Road from Georgetown to Beaconsfield, with a Stop at the Batman Bridge

Though it doesn't really allow for artistry, many of the photos I took in Australia were from a moving car. Mostly I wanted to be sure I captured as much of the experience as possible to bring home to Deb.

Since I am a bit tired at the moment as I'm still coping with jet lag, let's just sit back and enjoy the drive.

The Batman Bridge from below - this was the first cable-stayed bridge in Australia, and unfortunately is named after a fellow named John Batman and not the comic book superhero.

It's hard to believe these were taken from a vehicle, Tonia. You and your camera have brought Down Under alive for me. That river has my heart.

*sigh* I needed this tonight. It is as beautiful as I thought it would be. When I take pictures from the car, I get windshield smudges etc., of course you don't:)

Interesting landscape...reminds me of towns in Illinois or Indiana. Still suffering jet lag? Did you fly Quantas? Were you able to take advantage of the "special" they were offering till March 20?

Well Tonia darling, you've got to be a genius with a camera ( and have a mighty clean windsheild) to get such wonderful clear shots. The batman bridge is stunning. I especially like the one taken from upon the bridge.

'Speed Cameras Operate in Tasmania'.. that reminded me of a time in New South Wales when they had aerial police surveillance of the highways. A sign advising of this was scrawled over with the words PIGS IN SPACE. hehe, the muppets - a lasting cultural influence. pretty pretty piccies Tonia. there's something infinitely alluring about the open road. loved these!

Amazingly clear shots, Tonia! Your talent as a photographer shows.

My moving-vehicle shots are never this good. You should see the ones I took in the Philippines... with a brand new and unfamiliar camera, jet-lagged when I got there after being "hijacked" to Alaska and en route for 4 days, my photos were a MESS!
Excellent work, m'dear! Does QANTAS have you on their payroll yet? Maybe you should contact the Tasmania Tourist Board and offer them your services. These photos are truly beautiful.
