Movie Review: The Day The Earth Stood Still (2008)

As some of you may know, I am a huge Keanu Reeves fan. So when I heard about "The Day The Earth Stood Still" and the fact that he'd be playing an alien, I was psyched. I'm up for any movie that he is in! We rented the movie from Redbox and watched it in the privacy of our home. I enjoyed it. It wasn't his best film, by far, but it was an interesting and thought provoking movie in my opinion. What would happen to us if something like this were to happen? Would the world we live in now show enough love and compassion to turn the alien's minds into letting us survive?

I have not seen the original, I am aware that this is a remake. I'm not a fan of remakes because I like the idea that movies coming out should be new ideas and new avenues that no one has tred before. But, I think this is a great movie. It makes me want to see the original so that I can compare them. It also helps that you get to see Keanu without clothes on at one point!

Well, the old one is a Sci-Fi classic that I really like; and from the commercials I've seen, I have a feeling it isn't like the original... sigh. I would still like to see it though, and appreciate your review.

I want to see this really bad because I too am an avid fan of Keanu! I am just afraid my 10 year old daughter would be too scared. Maybe some night on PPV when she is gone to spend the night at her grandparents!

I have been a big fan of the original movie ever since it came out. I had not heard about the remake. I will have to rent it, although I do not expect it to be anything like the original.

I saw this one on an IMAX screen in Atlantic City, NJ. If you like Keanu you should see him in IMAX. Not my taste but the wife loved it.

It seems like all Hollywood ever makes any more is remakes. Are they running out of original plot ideas?

I watched this movie on the flight to Sacramento a couple of weeks ago. It was an ok movie. I haven't seen the original.

I saw this in the store the other day and started to buy it. In fact I even carried it around the store with me but I put it back. :)
