For me, the new year usually starts off with a three-month block of uninterrupted writing time.  So far, 2009 has been anything but usual!

Overseeing the final details of finishing Inn BoonsBoro took up a lot of time.  Some days it seemed we might never get here, but I'm delighted to announced the hotel is open for business!  Suzanne McErlain, innkeeper extraordinaire, will welcome Inn BoonsBoro's first guests on February 17. 

On Sunday evening, we had a party to celebrate the completion of the Inn.  Everyone who had a hand in making the dream of the Inn become reality was invited: from the architects to the fire department who fought so hard last February to our crew that worked day and night. Laughter and conversation replaced the sounds of hammers, saws and drills as everyone had a story to tell about their part in creating what is truly unique hotel.

You'll get a chance to see the Inn in all its glory if you stop by the signing at Turn the Page this Saturday, February 21, from 1-3 pm.   I'll be signing copies of Promises in Death a couple of days before its official release on February 24.  This time around, the case is even more personal for Eve as the victim is another cop murdered with her own weapon. Dallas's friend Chief Medical Examiner Morris and Detective Amaryllis Coltraine had started a serious relationship, and from all accounts the two were headed for a happy future together. But someone has put an end to all that. To  Eve and Roarke's shock, they discover a connection between this case and their own pasts.

Joining me are Deanna Raybourn, a wonderful new writer I had the pleasure of discovering last spring, and the always popular Mariah Stewart and Donna Kauffman.  Hope you can make it!

I have had some time to write and finished up the third book in the Bride Quartet,  Savor the Moment.  You'll be meeting the wonderful women in this series in May, so I'll tell you more about them in the next newsletter.  Now that the Inn is complete, I'll be turning my attention to Eve and Roarke for the first of two In Death books planned for 2010.

We finally have some movie news!  Lifetime has decided to run the movies in four consecutive Saturday nights starting March 21.  I wasn't able to visit any of the sets to film cameos this time around, so I'm as curious as you are to see Northern Lights (March 21), Midnight Bayou (March 28), High Noon (April 4) and Tribute (April 11) brought to life. The casting is spectacular!  Cybill Shepard, Faye Dunaway, Jerry O'Connell, Rosanna Arquette are just a few of the names attached to these films.  I'm really excited to see the finished products.  We've posted the Lifetime Press Release on the movies on my website.

And if you haven't had a chance to read Tribute yet, I have some great news:   Lifetime worked with my publisher on the timing and the paperback edition of Tribute will be released before the movie airs on April 11.

That's about all the news from me.  After all the chaos of the last six weeks, I'm really looking forward to getting back into a regular writing schedule, catching up on my own reading and relaxing just a little bit.
