9 of top 10 AIG Bonuses Returned

NY AG Andrew Cuomo of New York announced late Monday afternoon that 9 of the top 10 bonus recipients at the American International Group had returned their bonuses.

9 of the top 10, also 15 of the top 20. The other guys apparently don't remember how to make a wire transer anymore. Or, they DESERVE their bonus unlike the other folks.

More than 400 folks received bonuses, only 47% of those folks are American Citizens. It not known, at least AG Cuomo is not telling us how many of the 400 returned their bonus. Needless to say that the big cahunas are the top 20s: the 15 bonuses return count for 30 of the $165 million Congress wants back.

Hope this is a start because 51 executives received $1 million or more.

That's a shame. These people had contracts. Like it or not, Congress okay'd the payment of these bonuses when they didn't read the spending bill. I think they should just shut up and admit they made a mistake. And next time, if they want strings attached to money, they should learn to do a contract. Most of them are lawyers, after all.

But they still get to pay the taxes on that income. So they actually pay the government to take the money that congress "permitted" a private company to pay them. Social security, medicare, state/city taxes, federal income etc...about 120% of the bonuses.
