Soon wives could receive letters from the Escambia County Sheriff's Department letting them know when their husbands are arrested for soliciting prostitutes.
"I don't think it's people's right to do that. I really don't," said Trishanne LaFreniere, a woman who opposes the letter.
"She has the right to know," said Laurie Thuma, who likes the idea of alerting wives. "This impacts her on many levels, including her health."
Even the men in Escambia County can't seem to agree whether or not the letter is a good idea.

I think this is a good idea. It would suck if your husband is bringing home STD's and you don't even know about it. Don't be fooling around with prostitutes if you don't want your wife getting angry.

I think there faces should be published in the newspapers.
Maybe the answer is having the police blog printed in the local newspaper. That should be fair warning... and a deterrent. Maybe if "johns" thought their wife, girlfriends, mothers, employers, etc would find out... they would stop the (alledged) illegal behavior.
Darlene...That's only a small fraction of why AIDS is so prevelant in Africa. Lack of resources and education is a big factor.
ALSO.....Many African's still believe in the Sangoma's treatments for illnesses. Sangoma's are our version of witch doctors. They say that having sex with a virgin will cure AIDS. Thus one reason for so many children and INFANTS with AIDS. They have sex with as many virgins as they can in belief they will be cured. Spreading the disease.
The government should not be regulating the sex lives of citizens. Differentiating between paid sex and free sex is a ridiculous notion to begin with. This is not about the wife's right to know. It's about having a completely different set of rules for one small portion of the population just because you don't agree with the morality.
There is enough real crime out there that I don't want police resources (which are already stretched thin) to be wasted on providing ammunition for divorce lawyers.
But is it the government's job to do so?
And why are only wives granted this special right? What about girlfriends? Or same-sex partners?
Why does the "wife" have the legal right to have the government inform her of her husband having sex with a prostitute, but not if he just has an affair?
