NYC Suggestions?

JoAnn C. and I will be taking a one day bus trip to New York in June. I need things to be as cheap as possible. Anyone have any suggestions on must sees? We were thinking of going to Chelsea Market. We're both Food Network fans. The last time we kind of wandered and found some interesting things. This time we want to do a little planning. Wandering is always good though too! =)

and that big toy store...FAO Schwartz is always fun

Also would recommend seeing a show. If you can't afford Broadway tickets, there are plenty of cheaper off broadway shows that are more affordable & just as wonderful :)

I love NYC...as if you can't tell lol

My only tip after a long day walking all over the city, is to go enjoy Central Park. It's amazing that such a peaceful place can exsist in such a high paced atmosphere!

the Jeckell & Hyde restaurant >>> I have pictures in my folders if you want to see them
its nice, the village is fun to walk around in the evening.
I am sure alot of stuff you can get tickets ahead of time, like the empire state building
you can save time waiting on the line to buy and just wait to go up.
Statue of Liberty, the wax museum, any of the museums, times square and the naked cowboy, take the double decker tour, you see the whole city, if its a nice day sit on top.
The world trade center site, peir 17 A
circle line lol

Treat yourself to Max Brenner's. While it's expensive for a meal, at least treat yourself to one of their decadent chocolate desserts!
For me...I would have to go to Ellis Island

I've never heard of Jeckyl and Hyde restaraunt. I have been to Empire State Building and Ellis Island. Both very nice!

I Love NYC! I have been many times. It one of my favoite places to go over and over and I am not one who likes to see the same place twice. Central Park in the Spring is beautiful. Of course there is all the usual tourist stuff. Rockefeller Center( that is better at Christmas time) Empire state building. I personally like walking in Greenwich Village. If you do the Statue of Liberty/Ellis get to Battery Park area and get through the security early or you will spend most of the day there.( Get your entrance tickets early as they go fast)

Native New Yorker here :)
Upper West Side: get bagels at H&H Bagels (corner fo Broadway and 80th Street) and Zabars (look it up on their website) for food shopping)
Greenwich Village: John's Pizza (on Bleeker) and Rocco's (italian cookies pastries and coffee, also on Bleeker Street)
For Broadway Ttickets Cheaper go to TKTS in Times Square for 1/2 price tickets for that day's performances. Or go to Bryant Park (42nd street between 5th and 6th Avenues) for 1/2 price tickets to cultural events such as ballet/symphonies/operas.
For a cheap fun way to see the Harbor, take the Staten Island Ferry across and back.
Chinese restaurants are cheap and some of the best chinese food in the country.

You know what, I just happened to think that we do have an awesome site for finding very inexpensive rooms. We just booked a room for Nashville at a 3 1/2 star hotel for $70 a night. I checked the same hotel on other sites and It was a little over $160. You can choose the amenities you want and the star rating but don't see the hotel name until after you book. Its hotwire.com Hope this helps

Well I am a hockey fans so of course madison square garden was a must when I visited. But many people decide to take in a show. I regret that I didn't!

I have never been to NY . I do most of my traveling through pictures on JoAnn's site and a few more of my friends. I travel all over the world on Gather. From West Coast to East.
