DON'T FORGET TO BUY A SMALLER CAR!

I like small cars better.

I have traditionally owned smaller cars and only recently bought something closer to a full size car because of all the interstate driving that I do, and feel safer in a larger-heavier car. It's a Honda, made in the U.S., and gives me wonderful gas mileage. If I didn't have to do so much highway driving, I'd be back in a Civic.

I drive a Honda Civic. I feel perfectly safe in it on the highway, until I get around all the jerks driving huge SUVs who make it so that I just about can't see anything up ahead in the road because their cars are so big compared to mine!! I just hate being behind a large SUV or truck on the road. I just can't see a dang thing around them.

I have driven small cars since my first purchase of a 1969 Opel Kadette. I like small cars. I live in a large city where parking is difficult to find and have never had the need for a large car. Lately, I'm having a bit of a problem. I drive a two-door coupe. It is a great car. I think that I spend no more than $20.00 per week in gas. My car runs great. I've had no major expenses and there is still about 50,000 more miles to go on this car. So, I'd love to keep it. The problem is that my mother is now too old to drive herself and many of her friends have stopped driving. So, if they are to ever see each other again, I drive my mother to them or pick up her friends. Climbing into the back seat of the coupe is fine for my daughters in their twenties, but it is impossible for elderly people in the seventies and eighties. So, for the first time in my life, I'm considering looking for a four door vehicle with more leg room to accommodate my mother, her friends, and other elderly family members. I'm not interested in an SUV. They are too high for elderly people to use, as well. I'm thinking that a Buick Park Avenue (if they still make those) might work nicely. I don't know, I have to look into this. As I get older, the need gets greater and greater.

Sorry. I drive 2 Dodge dually. You will NOT see me drivin' a camry or corolla to get feed, tow trailers and farm equipment, haul hay, haul cattle or deliver to the farmers market. Your on your own for this one...

Thank you all for commenting on my post. It is good to know other people are willing to stand up for their rights. By the way, I posted this to alert people that our need for higher millage/ gallon cars should be our future. Seems that people forget and when gas gets cheaper forget about saving gas. Have you noticed that all the motor bikes were put away when gas became less cost? It is still just as important to ride those bikes as it was when gas cost was high.

I know that some of you need trucks and larger cars for your life style. My Forester is nice around the city but dangerous on the high speed turnpikes. I drive my Audi A6 when I have to leave the city. The trucks are pushing cars off the road unless they can maintain the truck's high speed. I was crusing at the traffic's speed on the middle lane when a too large truck wanted to pass me faster than I could get out of his way. He blew past and cut in as soon as he could and pushed me off the center and inside lane. If I didn't have the ability of the Audi, my wife and I would be badly hurt or dead now.

I am trying to convince government to move trucks into the inside lanes of turnpikes where they can travel like trains and leave the two other lanes to cars. Believe this would save a lot of car/truck accidents.
