Woman accused of church theft blames Satan

A woman accused of taking more than $73,000 from the Arlington church where she was an administrative assistant blames the devil. Papers filed with a theft charge Wednesday in Snohomish County Superior Court say the 62-year-old Arlington woman told detectives "Satan had a big part in the theft."

Oh my gosh.......what an interesting story! Yep, money is the root of all evil, that's for sure.......wow, that's a LOT of money to get from a church, though!!!!

People never take responsibility for things anymore they always have some one else to blame. It is very sad that it was from the church let alone anywhere. I know times are tough, they are for everyone but there are ways to make it through that are acceptable and this is not one.

dont that beat all??? altho the devil plays a part in people making bad choices, he can always be overruled by somebody making a 'good' choice. he dont make nobody do anything. what a cop out. youd think after 62 years she would be smarter than that. guess not. just another idiot crawling out of the woodwork.

Yes, but with God's help, we can resist Satan, so using him is no real excuse for her behavior. I think she should have reached out to the church for help if she was struggling.

Satan didn't make her do it. God gives us a thing called free will. She could've not given in to the temptation. It's her own fault.

Quite plausible. Historically, Satan is known to have caused many a mischief. But my point is how would you slap it on Satan in a court of law which usually relies on tangible evidence.

For someone to take money from a church, any amount, is low. I know the economy is bad, and people are losing their homes, but that's is the lowest form of desperation. I'm sure the police didn't believe that Satan was behind her stealing, but I think they should have put her in a straight jacket. I feel bad for her pastor for hiring her, because I know how much it costs to keep a church up and running. $73000.00? how much did she owe to cover her household costs? If I could talk to her in person, I'd probably slap her and say ," Damn woman pay your bills, do the responsible thing!", lol.
