Happy Spring From the Sensual Seasons and Two Word ChallengeGroups! Since I (Monica Kennedy) am the owner of both of these groups, I thought it would be fun to have a combined challenge for both of these groups with a spring theme. The combined challenge will be to use the provided S[ring themed Two Words and the technique of the sensual seasons challenge together to create an original post. This post can be an image, poem, story, article . . . As long as you complete both parts of the challenge, anything goes!
Now, first let me explain each group so everyone will fully understand this special challenge. The whole "Two Word" concept began on Feb 1st, 2006 when David L wrote the poem, If I Gave You Just Two Words. This poem was designed to challenge every Gather member to take just two words and interpret them in writing and share them with us all. This challenge quickly took off and has provided a lot of inspiration and reading enjoyment for many Gather members.
The Two Word Challenge Rules:
A word pair is issued to the group, (past examples: Bottled Promise, Sibling Torture, Fuzzy Edges, Coddled Sanity) and the challenge is to post an article, poem, story, picture . . . somehow using the announced "two words" as closely as challenged (Bottled Promises, Sibling's Torture, Fuzzy Edge, Coddle Your Sanity all accepted variations, but try to use the words as issued). It's as simple as that!
Post your entry to the Two Word Challenge Group (and to all of Gather too, if you like) and tag the article with 'two words' and then the current two words, like this:
two words, Divine Temptation, etc.
All Two Word Challenges need to be kept PG to permit everyone to participate. Non- PG Interpretations of the Two Words are fine, as long as you flag your article appropriately.
There is no deadline. You can do these at any time.
You can also write about any of the previous Two Word Challenges. Check out Two Word Challenges Past to Present (not up to date) to see the complete rules as well as all of the previous Two Word Challenges.
The Sensual Seasons challenge was first issued to my group, Poetically Incorrect, but when I realized that the challenge could apply to multiple writing and art forms, I created its own group.
The Sensual Seasons Group Rules:
Each season offers a variety of things - from beauty to less enjoyable things. I challenge you to write a poem, fictional or non-fiction piece encompassing aspects of a season- but covering all five senses as well:
taste
smell
sight
hearing
touch
In the piece, the specific season does not have to be mentioned, but obviously aspects of nature will need to be discussed. All five senses must be covered.
With the five senses - you do not hae to say bluntly - I hear a bird, I smell roses . . . You can say "The chirping of birds were my alarm clock." Or "The salt in the air burned my nose."
So, now that you understand the background of the two separate challenges, let me go ahead and issue the special challenge now! Your Two Words are:
- Spring Paradise
- Fairy Wonderland
- Dogwood Days
- Floral Wind
- Velvet Petals
- Lush Grass
- Spring Fever
- Daisy Daydreaming
- Dancing Petals
- Petal Breeze
- Flower Power
- Spring Renewal
- Flower Revival
- Budding Beauty
- Pixie's Plunder
Now remember to use at least one set of two words and cover all five senses when participating in this challenge. When you post your entry, uses the tags Sensual Spring TWC and the two words you are using in your challenge. Example: Sensual Spring TWC, Spring Paradise. Post your entry to the Two Word Challenge and Sensual Seasons groups, as well as any other appropriate groups (see groups this was posted to for ideas on appropriate groups). Have fun and have a blessed holiday season!
There is no time limit for this challenge - enjoy it throughout the spring season!
