On Thursday, the Georgia House of Representatives voted down a resolution designed to make President Barack Obama an honorary member of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus. The party line vote came after a similar resolution was passed with bipartisan support in the Georgia Senate.
Democratic Party of Georgia Chair Jane Kidd wrote the following statement:
"Instead of taking responsibility for six years of fiscal irresponsibility, where education has been gutted, health care has been thrown aside, and our roads are clogged with more and more people trying to get to work, Georgia Republicans are taking a page out of the Rush Limbaugh playbook and taking cheap political shots on the House floor. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.
"While this sends a depressing message about Georgia Republican priorities, it's more than that. Last year, millions of Americans, including 47% of Georgians voted for a message of change. They voted for a candidate who pledged to change the politics of division and destruction. It's clear that Republicans in the House have no intention of following that lead, even when their Republican colleagues in the State Senate passed a similar resolution in overwhelming, bipartisan numbers.
"As Senator Jones, Chair of the Legislative Black Caucus has pointed out, the General Assembly sees dozens of resolutions honoring exemplary Americans each session. Indeed, this isn't the first time that the General Assembly has seen a resolution honoring an American President. In 2005, for example, Republicans introduced a resolution honoring President George W. Bush for his handling of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina!
"To single out this resolution honoring President Obama for a bitter, divisive partisan stand is politics at its worst."

But as of right now.... the CBO announced this week that the White House has underestimated the debt Obama's plan suggested... by $2,3000,000,000,000. According to the CBO, Obama's plans are unsustainable and could collapse the US economy in 10 years. Add the financial woes to Obama's proposal (which he eventually retracted) to charge Veteran's private insurance companies for service related injuries... and it's easy to see he is loosing ground with the public.
take care
Bias cannot be stopped only proven --so much proof of this is visible within State politics, which belies a presumed cloak of invisibility of the behavior of State officials. Now as selfish and irresponsible acts within these local groups continues and since the peal is slowly being removed from the fruit the public will weed out the bruised and over-ripe fruits before the bushel (the US political system) rots. I have both concern and faith that our system will endure through reorganization and become much stronger at home and abroad.

There is your answer right there !
Democrats saw poor people of color in a tragic tragedy and the Republicans saw opportunity in that now the slums can be replaced with Hotels, shopping malls and seaside Casino's.
I mean, why should poor people occupy all that valuable land ?
I'm beginning to wish there were a proven way to sterilize all Republicans !

Why would anyone not of the GA Black Caucus need to vote on such a thing anyway? Sounds like it was an organization thing and not something for the entire legislative body.
We did and
We will.
All of us together
