Debt Busting - Broken Cell?!

Something that really stinks is a broken cell phone when you have other bills to pay!  Well this happened to me last night.

I was talking to my mother on my cell phone and the speaker started to buzz.  It was really annoying but I could deal with it.  After i hung up with my mother i called my husband's cell and it still buzzed proving it was the phone.  I was thinking about getting a new phone anyway because I hated it, it was square, why make something that doesn't fit well in the palm of your hand when it is going to spend a great deal of time in the palm of your hand?!

Fast foward to this morning, my brother calls me.  The buzzing starts again only this time with his deep voice (not that my husband doesn't have a deep voice but he is a whisperer my brother, not so much)  it got worse!  I couldn't stand it I had to hang up and start looking for phones.

I started my search on my cell provider's site.  I always recommend starting here, you will go in having some knowledge of the phones available and the colors offered.  You'll also know the price range so you'll know what phones to avoid, we all know how sometimes you pick up something and you just have to have it!  This helps curb that.

I found the LG rumor in green, because color is important to me.  Being a big texter I loved the full keyboard and being a rockin chic I needed the cool color.  Little did I know it also had great ring tones but back to my advice.  I called my local store to see if they had it, they didn't.  She asked me what was wrong and I explained that my phone was buzzing, she said hold on let me see if i have a Refurbished one.  To my delight they did!

What is a Refurbished?

Refurbished basically means returned to the store. sent to the manufactor to be checked over and then returned to the store for resale.  In most cases these are just like new phones.  I swear you couldn't tell mine from a brand new one, expect for the price.  $100 discount for refurbished! Ontop of any other offers.

So I renewed my contract for 2 years, $75 dollar off, got the refurb model another $100 off for $175 off the price putting the phone within my budget.

So what's the Debt Busting tip?

If you are in the market for a new cell phone call around and ask about a Refurbished model, it could save you big money and put the phone you really want within reach!
