A 36-year-old Swedish countess divorcing a former CEO says she cannot live on $43 million.

Marie Douglas-David, a former investment banker, says she has no income and needs her 67-year-old husband, George David, to pay her more than $53,000 a week - more than most U.S. households make in a year - to cover her expenses.

How is $43 million not enough for a person to live on?  I wouldn't doubt if she doesn't get more.  You could give me $5 million and I could live the rest of my life on it.

I could get along with one million for the rest of my life. Put some in savings and let the interest accumulate, and live as frugally as I am now. It's pathetic. Let's have her live our lives, and then see what she thinks about that.

What kind of expenses does she have where she needs $53,000 a week? Wow. Although, I don't really fault her for trying to take all of his money if he cheated on her, I'd nail him to the wall too.

She was stupid to sign a prenup after being married. He is worth over $300 million and last year made $27 million....

He might wind up paying her something. He was stupid not to get her to sign a prenup before they were married.

I would say there is some greed going on... the winners will be their lawyers who will get hefty fees out of this.

In California, which is a community property state, it is not about greed as much as it is about maintenance of the lifestyle you are used to (i.e., maintaining the status quo).

Oxnard is right about California and 53,000 a week isn't a lot, if your one of the wealthy in this state. Personally, I would be happy with $53,000 a week; however, I would move to another state where taxes wouldn't kill me like they are doing in California.

Every time the Governor opens his mouth and hands out for more money to his friends, I have to work hard at staying calm. I'm working on stress management and yes type A person that does have to work at taking a break.
