I Just Got a Call Warning me not to go to Walmart

wow.

Oh my gosh, that's scary.........we hate Wal-mart and do NOT shop there....my hubby's union has very strongly "encouraged" union members NOT to shop at Wal-mart at all...it's been probably 5 or 6 years since we've stepped foot inside their doors.........we shop instead at Super Target....there's a big world of difference in the environment, quality of merchandise, etc.......customer service is much better, and the employees there seem to be much happier than Wal-mart.

I heard the same thing. The story I heard also said 2 men will be killed. You won't catch me at a Walmart anytime soon.

Kinda scary, but I was at Walmart Saturday so I doubt I'll go again any time soon.

There are so many rumors like this. Rumor or not, it's probably wise to stay away, especially at night and never go alone.

Our town has two major stores: Super Walmart and Kmart. No Target, Meijer, Kohls, etc. Unless we drive 50 miles, these two stores are our only options.
My husband is retired and a member of the UAW, but we have to shop where we can.

This rumor gets repeated over and over... just a different store. I've seen it going around for the Macon Mall several times.

It's sad that folks start these rumors. It's like crying wolf... some day some gang is really going to do this... but noone will heed the warnings!

I agree about the fear of a copy cat trying to do what the rumor says. It may just be a rumor but there a sick people who will try to make it happen.

That is scary. I could actually see that happen. Scary times.

I heard the same rumor today. The sad thing is that Walmart or otherwise, something like that could happen anywhere. They just had the biggest drug bust in my city's history last week with 300 law enforcement/FBI people in for it. The majority of those arrested identified as part of the Bloods.

It's to bad someone starts these rumors. It probably gives some kids ideas they shouldn't have.

That is really sad and hope it is a rumor.

I got this message in a text from my sister tonight.
I knew right away that it's just one of those weird rumors.

first of all I firmly support Lera going to walmart.

Second and this ties in with the first, this is all urban legend. This rumor makes the rounds ever couple years thru email.

OMG. You don't have to worry about me going to Walmart because I refuse to shop there. Strong union believes and the fact that Walmart treats their employees like crap and their merchandise is low quality.

However, it is sad how rumors can spread and cause people to be scared. I just hope the wrong people don't get a hold of this rumor and make it true.

A quick visit to www.snopes.com would have shown this is totally false and has been circulating on the "internets" since around 2005, but then there would be no gather points in that, would there?

Old urban legend. It has been around since the 80's, it has been Kmart, Shopko and of course now Walmart since they are the biggest chain around.

Glad it was confirmed on Snopes as I do shop there from time to time.

Sam Walton was a genius. He was the first retailer to achieve savings for consumers by negotiating exclusion charges -- telling Pepsi that Coke will pay so much to have their product to put at eye level and starting a bidding war for prime placing. This banning Wal-Mart is pure silliness -- the soccer mom equivalent of throwing fake blood on fur coats, the illusion that individual action can affect anything larger than themselves. Wal-Mart employees hate you (or your husbands, as the case may be) for having union jobs they want that drive up the cost of everything for less production. This is the Yin and Yang of existence: for one to have more, another must have less.

People are just jealous, and start as much trouble as they can. I hope after tonight this stupid thing will go away. It's just scary enough that some dumb kids may decide to act on it.

The Walmarts my family work at treat them great. They love their jobs. And Walmarts quality has gone up a lot on the stuff we get anyway. And lots of places are shutting down due to the economy. And, while I believe in unions to a certain extent, I think they carry it way too far and become a burdon on society, driving prices sky high. I have friends who only join their unions to keep their jobs but hate them. They were forced to strike, pay union dues and some even lost their jobs because the companies could not afford to pay more. A union leader got a bunch of workers so riled up that my husbands friend got killed by a brick trying to get to work. He was only trying to take care of his family. Whatever happened to working together? I thought a union was supposed to help secure your job and ensure that you got paid a fair wage....not get you high wages and cause companies to close. Or look for corners to cut to lower their costs. As for the rumors, they are everywhere. Everyone is subject to them. We shouldn't punish the ones that are victim to them.

Walmart sells junk. But thats all some of us can afford. Its better than starving or being naked.

They called the Baby Boomers the "me generation". It seems like we now live in the culture of "me"!
