It has been a marvelous time here in Australia. I've had the opportunity to reconnect with much of my family, and spend some very special time with my two favorite uncles. Tomorrow, I will get on a plane and travel half a world to return to my life. I've missed Deb something fierce, as well as the kids, the horses and our assorted menagerie. And yet, it is hard to leave.
For most of my life, I have lived with a foot in two continents. So much of who I am lives in this far away place. The people who know where I come from are here. There are stories that they tell which I can hear from no-one else, and there are so many ways that I see myself reflected in all of my family. It is always startling to look into the eyes of one of my cousin's children and see the family blue eyes looking earnestly into my own.
The world has become much smaller and this has made it easier to bridge the distances in my heart. I can visit with my uncles in person due to the miracle of the internet and web cams, and keep up with all the family happenings while happily ensconced in an Arkansas life. This will bring me comfort as I board that plane tomorrow. As always, I will leave a piece of my heart here, for that is where it belongs.

have a safe trip back and honor the feet planted on different continents - it's what makes you you. and we wouldn't have you any other way.
Wil - of course I met Carolyn. And she is more delightful in person than could possibly be conveyed in her written words.
Hugs and blessings - S.
Dying to hear of the Carolyn escapade!
Faith - I'm thinking I might post a little something about my visit with Carolyn - after all, I did take a few photos while I was there :)
This sounds like it was a very moving trek for you. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures and the stories you're bringing back.
It's also hard being away. What a nice reunion you'll have back in Arkansas tomorrow, too. Enjoy your last day there!
Thank you for posting to this group whose only purpose is to thank you for posting to this group.
Thanks everyone for stopping by to comment. It is good to be home, back in Arkansas with Deb and to relive with her the amazing adventure that I've just completed.
