It might be time for a new computer!

My computer is a little over 3 years old.  I like my computer, I don't want to part with it, but it is definitely trying to drive me up the wall.  First my monitor died today.  Well actually I think someone messed with the settings on it and now I can't get a clear picture, so I had to trade it in with the other computer monitor we had.  It is exactly the same monitor so not really any lost of settings.  I just have to take the time to reset it to the perfect screen contrast and brightness though.  Which can be a pain sometimes.

So I will have to adjust my gathering goals a bit to be able to purchase the one that I really want, which is a miniature laptop model.  Think I can do it within the next 3 to 4 months?

The model I have now is a Dell.  Don't you hate parting with something you've grown accustom to using?

Sure do. I would like to get a new laptop, but my old one has XP which I'm used to. The kids' desktop has Vista, and anytime I have to use it, it drives me nuts. I don't really want to give up XP.

So true. I have a desktop at home. It is old and has XP as well as windows 2003. I don't want to get rid of it. I am so used to it. It is getting slower yearly. I make sure not to download any unnecessary files on it. I now have a miniature notebook. I love it but I only use it for when I go out to starbucks or public libraries. It is easy to carry and fit perfectly in my purse.

Those little netbooks are sure cute. I want one, but I keep going back to looking at the macbooks. HUGE difference in price though.

I used to get a new computer each year. I would simply pass the old one down to one of the kids. Now, I think I want to try a netbook for working here at home. I could take it to my bedroom and work away from the grandkids. I could lock the door to keep them out. Put in earphones and I wouldn't have to even hear them banging on the door or screaming or hollering. It would work as long as their mom was home.

I'd hate having to get a new laptop! I love my Ibook. I would definitely get a new IBook though. Good luck to you.

I have two Macs; a 12" Powerbook and a 17" widescreen Macbook Pro. I never want to go back to a PC.

I'm accustomed to my desktop and can't wait to trade it in! LOL It's much older than yours and is soooooooo slow. I usually use the laptop

Yep... but luckily my first and only computer is still ticking, and i got it in march of 2003, a little slow, but still good :) I just have to get a new modem for it, that just went out after 6 years... and a new dvd burner...
Do you guys think, I'll be able to cash out enough times to get the one I really want?

I'd like a new stack but don't want Vista like XP and the trouble it will be to all the old downloads onto new one. Just bought an external hard drive, now I need a USB splitter not enough holes for the stuff I have LOL
Now my monitor I love. Cat got mad when I went from traditional to flat screen. LOL a 17" screen. Then I traded up couldn't resist. I now have a 37" screen. Takes up half my desk I love it. It's also cable ready. LOL

I had to get a new computer last year. I hate having to get used to a new one. I do want a notebook computer for myself. It isn't a necessity but I would like one anyway.

I love my computer! It was supposed to be used for specific things but my desktop has been packed away for a while do to post Katrina house stuff. I would like to upgrade my laptop, it's a little over 3 years old and works ok, but I need more memory. Once I started using broadband at home the computer just became soooo slooooooow. I'm curious about the mini one you mentioned.

My son built this one and I really like how fast it is compared to the old one. We did have to go buy some software though, because of course it didn't come with any. All in all though, it is top of the line in what you can get, and was much cheaper to do...
