Would you buy your kid an I-Phone?

I don't know how old your kid is. I would think if he was an older teenager that would be fine, as it would be something he could hang out to for a years as long as he didn't want an upgrade to the latest and greatest.

I shudder when I see young kids walking around with all these contraptions though!

i STILL have my girls give me a list of 5 things they'd LIKE TO GET for holidays/bdays... it makes it easier for me.. and i usually give them a money amount to keep in mind also. hope this idea will help you out?

oops.. shoulda also mentioned that they are both grown and moved out now. and i will do this same idea with my grand kids..

Fortunately cell phones weren't that popular yet when I was raising my son. But all of his friends had TVs in their bedrooms and he wanted one too. I didn't want him to bury himself in his room every night, so I said no. I told him he could have a TV in his room when he paid for it himself. He wasn'r happy with me at the time, but now (he's 25) he thanks me for it.

My niece bought her 11-year-old daughter a cell phone for Christmas and I was horrified! Of course, all of her friends have them and the pressure is really great to give in. But I'm glad I didn't give in. I think kids today are spoiled beyond belief.

Dianne - you hit the nail on the head! I just think my kid is being very ungracious and spoiled to 'only' want an i-phone... It seems like asking for a Maserati for your first car!
