I actually use a lot of the paraben-less, sulfate less products myself, but what I learned in school is that:
A lot of the times, the products say that they can heal your skin or make it younger, but the truth is, most things do not penetrate our skin. Our skin is an awesome protective barrier, which is why it's so hard to make some of the pharmaceuticals an easy topical application... if it's so hard to penetrate our skins, it would be hard for the (supposedly) minimal harsh chemicals in personal products to penetrate our skin as well.
