The little things....

Sometimes in life, it's the little things that make us stop for a moment and realize how blessed we really are. I had one of those days today. It didn't start out particularly nice. My son called and woke me up, and it was a rainy day. I knew I had to go out for the day and watch my grandson, a very active 2 year old, but I love doing that. I picked him up between showers and we headed out to run some errands. He had spent a fun day playing with little friends, so before long he was tired. He is a little problem solver, so he grabbed his coat, made a little makeshift bed in the shopping cart and quickly went to sleep with his little feet dangling over the railing of the cart. I carefully maneuvered through the store, trying to decide if I should stay in the store until he woke, or just go ahead and check out. I opted to check out. After all, Granddaddy would be meeting up with us soon for dinner, and we didn't want to miss seeing him. After I left the store, I shielded my little guy's face with a catalog I picked up in the store. He didn't even notice it was drizzling. "Do you need any help?", a kind lady asked me as I approached the parking lot. I thought she was very nice to offer. I thanked her, and we proceeded on. After I put all of our things in the car, my grandson woke up, so I offered him a drink I had purchased in the store. "Would you like me to take your cart?" Another kind soul was offering her assistance. "Yes, thank you", I replied. We chatted for a moment back and forth. I know both of these ladies did not offer anything that much out of the ordinary, but I really appreciated them.  Little kindnesses in our day make such a difference in our lives.
