On Tuesday March 17th, Gather is adding even more features for both group owners and members. Gather will be unavailable from 11 p.m.-3 a.m. ET on Tuesday, March 17th. Building upon the group changes in our last release, Gather is adding some enhancements to the latest Groups release. Here are just a few of the highlights:
- Font formatting-When publishing or editing posts, you will be able to change the font style, size, and color.
- FLV video format-You will be able to upload video files in FLV video format, up to 100 megabytes.
- Group administrator setting-If you're a group owner, you will be able to give other group members administrator privileges (edit group settings and group layout; moderate content, members, and group comments in the Conversation Space).
- Additional group color themes-We are adding five new group themes so you have a broader range of looks to choose from.
- Favorite Groups-You will be able to add links to up to 20 of your favorite groups on My Gather page.
- Groups Landing Page-If you are looking for groups to visit or join, the Groups landing page will be updated to help you find groups on topics that interest you.
- Pending Group Tasks-If you own or moderate any groups, the dashboard on you're my Gather page will now show an alert when you have pending group tasks, such as content or members to moderate.
After the upgrade is finished, be sure to go to the Gather Groups group and the Gather Help group for more in depth posts explaining the new features.

Yay! I hope there's black and gold.
"Pending Group Tasks-If you own or moderate any groups, the dashboard on your my Gather page will now show an alert when you have pending group tasks, such as content or members to moderate."
This will be helpful.
provided this works as you say it will this will be fantastic for forgetful people like me
Sounds like some worthwhile additions. I like the ability to make group links.
Seriously... you guys should really get on that stuff.

What kind of screwy algorithm is Gather using to
pick "popular" groups? The old landing page was
bad enough, it only displayed the old Gather
Essential Groups on the first page, but at least
viewers could click to bring up the 100 most
popular groups or even the newest groups. The
current page and its supposedly popular groups
is a joke since it often displays groups with only
a couple dozen members that have hardly any
content. How can those possibly be "popular"?
And who at Gather picks the groups that are
displayed in the rotating banner at the top of
the page? Whoever it is has locked onto about
30 or so groups that are constantly displayed.
What is the criteria for having your group
displayed on the rotating banner and just who
does a group owner contact to get fair and equal
billing for their group?
And lastly, when is Gather going to again have
a real front page instead of the insipid login splash?
