The Amazing Race is left with only friends and family, for the very first time. Following last week’s elimination of Amanda and Kris, there are no longer any relationships in the game but that doesn’t mean it isn’t entertaining! With Jodi and Christie, somehow, getting first last week it was time for them to prove their worth as they stayed in Russia. Their first task was to ride the Siberian railroad to convert from Siberia to another Russian area. The first two teams, Christie/Jodi and Jen/Kisha decided to find the train together and realized all the teams would catch up. They had 10 hours before they left which allowed ample time to equalize. On the train all were commenting about the experience. While Luke was having a blast, Kisha was taller than the bed and wasn’t having such a fun time. The next morning Mike, of Mel and Mike, realized that Margie/Luke were power players of the game and others realized they weren’t the nice team any longer. I never thought Luke was the nice guy they portrayed him as but we’ll have to see if editing changes.
With all teams off the train it was time to race again with Kisha/Jen going in the wrong direction. Jaime/Cara ended up getting the first taxi and decided to let Margie/Luke tag along while everyone else kind of went their own way. It was then time for some taxi racing to the clue box where it was time for a Detour. Their choices were Russian Bride, driving a bride to a church, and Russian Snowplow where they had to drive a snow plow through a training course. With Margie/Luke and Cara/Jaime doing the plows Tammy/Victor decided to tag along. Apparently tagging along is their new strategy. Mel and Mike had a different plan though, go and party with the virgin brides. Since they were following, Victor/Tammy stopped at the gas station with the other two teams. They were able to get directions on their own though, causing them to leave the others behind and making some fast enemies. Victor then left Margie/Luke, yet again, after getting directions which made them suspicious. Could Victor be the new Amazing Race villain?
The rest finally arrived at the Detour with Christie/Jodi taking the brides and Mark/Mike taking the snowplows. Kisha/Jen arrived last and stuck with the bride task, they had to get their first. Jen was having trouble with the manual car while everyone else, for once, was having a breeze driving. Mike/Mel arrived at the bride detour first and went searching for their bride. They found her rather quickly and were off to the church while the three leading teams found the snowplows. Tammy/Victor ended up arriving third which made their evil driving pointless, but they were first driving the snowplow at first. Jaime/Cara had trouble with the non-English Russians, um it’s because they were talking to the wrong plow people. Jodi/Christie had some fun driving too, well talking to drunk locals about directions at least. What’s with all the drunk locals this season?
Victor was the first to finish the snow plow drive but Tammy still had to do it and was nervous about stick shift. One of the reds was scared about stick as well, I can’t tell them apart but they didn’t have too much of a problem. Over at Margie/Luke, Margie wasn’t turning the machine correctly which made Luke freak out, not as much as last week but still hilarious. Back over at the bride detour, Kisha/Jen found their bride quickly as did Jodi/Christie. Seems the one everyone thought would take forever was actually really fast. Now that Victor/Tammy finished their snow plowing it was time to head to the largest library in Siberia which also has a really really long name. The other two also finished their driving and were off in the same direction, together of course. Mark/Mike arrived at the snow plow with everyone done or almost done. They seemed to be good drivers though so they didn’t have too many issues.
Once at the church, Mark/Mel dropped off their bride and were off to the library for the clue. Mark/Mike were also off in that direction leaving the two first place teams from last week in last. Jodi/Christie finally got to a church, but there was a small issue. It was the wrong church, poor bride! They had to drive even further to the right church, putting them behind and possibly making the bride late for her wedding! At the church it was time for a Road Block. One team member had to run a marathon… in their underwear. The end of the Road Block was the Pit Stop, so running naked was the only way to check in with Phil who actually took part in the Road Block himself. One of Jaime/Cara weren’t happy about being naked and cold while Victor was upset about not being able to run naked. Luke was up first and ran rather fast while Tammy ended up passing Cara. Finally figured out who is who! She was upset nobody was whistling at her but she finally got one and started running again.
Mike/Mel arrived at the Road Block next with Mike taking the run. Mark/Mike were next with one of the brothers, can’t tell them apart either, were running while the final two female teams were still searching for churches. Kisha/Jen were able to drop off their bride first which sent them to the library while Christie/Jodi went from first to last. Didn’t I call it? As Margie drove to the Pit Stop in a taxi Luke ran to Rocky music yet Victor and Jaime were at the Pit Stop waiting well before Margie. She arrived just as Luke crossed the line and both checked in with Phil as the first place team for their second time. Tammy arrived next, checking them in to Phil second as Cara’s walking forced her and Jaime to come in third. Back at the marathon Mike and Mark were running and felt like an “exhibition”. Mike had worn his boots which made it hard to run but he had fun doing it as always. The two female teams were still having issues driving and one of them were obviously going to come in last. Both were first and second last time so it was a huge drop for both of them.
In crazy Russian traffic, Jen was having issues with their car. She couldn’t get it into gear, proving their single shifting issues made up for the non-issues of everyone else. Remaining calm helped the two start their car up again but it wasn’t gonna help them much as Mike arrived, making Mel/Mike fourth and Mark/Mike fifth. Mark/Mike had some issues finding Phil though, as he had to whistle to them to call them over. Back at the Road Block Jen had to change into underwear for the run while Christie ran through Russia in her thong. Both girls were having fun with the locals through the run while Jodi was getting her finger taped up. She slammed it in the car door and realized they were last at that point as Jen arrived, putting her and Kisha in the sixth spot. Christie and Jodi then checked in last and Phil faked them out. They were safe, for this time, yet had to complete a Speed Bump next round. Many have surpassed the speed bump and stayed in, but I’m not too hopeful for these two. Who knows, maybe they’ll surprise.
