You might be wondering what the heck spring cleaning has to do with feeling better about my body. Well, my closet is STUFFED with things I can't wear because they are too small. Every day, I look at gazillions (only a slight exagerration) of things in my closet that I can't wear because they are either too tight or I don't feel good in them. I recently read an article that this can affect your self esteem and I'm ready to do something about it.
I'm going to separate them by style (work, casual, etc) and put them in bags by how many pounds I would need to lose to wear them (10, 20). Then the bags are going to the garage!! (wish I had a basement!). Who knows, I may never open the bags again, but those clothes aren't going to bring me down every morning any more.
And another thing, I'm not buying ANYTHING without trying it on and feeling like it fits perfectly at the time. I must be insane, but I buy things ALL THE TIME without trying it on, only to find when I get it home that it just doesn't fit properly. Rather than return it, I usually put in my closet to join that 'someday' or 'in 5 lbs' pile. No more. It's a waste of money and I think it drags me down to look at them everyday.
I'll post before and after pictures of the carnage later this weekend. I expect this is going to be grueling convincing myself what to put in the bag and what to keep in the closet, but I'm going to do it and feel better for it. My husband is going to have a cow about all the stuff going in the garage - LOL.

I'm going to clean it out! I'm even going to go as far as freecycling 75% them and only keeping the more expensive outfits I don't want to have to replace. I think I'll store the "keepers" in dark suit bags so I can't see them until I need them! When I loose weight, I'll treat myself with a couple of new outfits to add to the few I've kept! Maybe that is the motivation I've been looking for!
I woke up this morning to see that a coat rack had pulled right off the wall last night because there were too many coats on it! That was a very obvious sign to me that I need to pare down how many clothes I have.
The other thing I noticed is that the wall looked a lot less cluttered and "clean" without the coat rack. You've inspired me to spring clean my closet!
I just read today that when you find a bra that fits just right, you should buy two. I've done that many times and gotten home to find the exact same one in the exact same size is too small.
