Budget Supper March 13, 2009

Tonight we had Easy Breakfast casserole (recipe found here

We also had applesauce and Green Giant frozen Herb and butter potatoes.

Price breakdown:

Sausage $1.59

Eggs .48

Crescent rolls $1.29

Cheese $2.00

Applesauce $1.00

Ham $1.27

GG potatoes $2.20 after using coupons.

Milk (free from WIC, and had I thought ahead I would have gotten the cheese on the WIC as well)

Total price of $9.83  Tonight we only fed 8 of us so there was plenty for seconds!

Notes: I bought a 5.76 lb ham at $3.19 a lb for a total cost of $18.44.  I cut it into 13 cups cubed, is how I figured the price on the ham.  I now have 2 bags frozen for what I need for my church meals and another bag to make us a casserole at a later time.

Applesauce was a huge jar for $1.99 and we used half of it.

Eggs were $1.42 for the dozen, so the .48 is 1/3 of the cost.

Those frozen Green Giant potatoes were wonderful!  I've gotten more coupons out to buy more tomorrow.  That was the first time I had noticed them in the freezer section.

We all love breakfast foods around here, so this was an excellent meal.
