We are still in a recession, but economic downturns have a way of forcing change.
Today's stories of positive news:
1.) Swiss banks will begin to cooperate in criminal investigations. The days of hiding money in secret accounts appear to be coming to an end. Privacy of account holders will be upheld, but criminals will no longer be protected.
2.) Citibank and GM both made public statements that they do not need additional government funding. This is a hopeful sign of stability. Before things can get better, they need to stop getting worse. Its beginning to look like that is happening.
Both of these stories are widely reported on Yahoo, AP, Reuters etc
I skipped the kitten story, but that one is also all over the news services.
