Welcome, welcome one and all.
If you are new to our little group, please note; We are presently using alter-egos (fake wombat ids). Some of us are real and some of us are make believe too. It is all very confusing (even to us). Please don't be offended if someone accuses you of not being real. This will stop next week.. we hope, after the Murder Mystery Weekend as faded into the history of Wombatopia.
In an attempt to keep things from going too far a field on Friday here are the basics of the house and articles.
1. There will be two anchor threads (more if need be).
Welcome and The Dining room are the first two.
2. Keep the 'Welcome' thread up or pull it back up when you get lost. There are at present 65 articles woven together by links, you will get lost.
3. Comments can be left on any of the articles. To be recognized for finding a clue, it must be posted on the current anchor thread, and Mrs. Winchester has to recognize it.
4. If you have a question, ask on the anchor thread, or it may not be found. Mrs. Winchester will be answering questions, believe her or don't. grin
5. Links are everywhere and you must find them. Links are how you move through the house to find clues. Some links lead to other links or kick you out of the house. Many links open to a new window while others do not. Pay attention and keep your Welcome article handy.
6. Clues and links will change as the game progresses. Checking a link once will not be sufficient to make it to the end of the game.
7. Clues will be left in comments as well as the article.. keep a sharp eye out. Mrs. Winchester is a busy, busy woman.
8. No one gets a mulligan. Sorry, you are all to clever for mulligans.
9. Ken is not the Almighty Contest Administrator for this. You can whine to him, but it will do no good.
10. I and the committee have ALL of the answers. Pandering is welcome, but will probably do you no good.
11. If you don't like how this is set up you can.
A. email a complaint - yourwhineyassproblemis@whocares.com or
B. set up your own damed Murder Mystery Weekend. The latter is preferred as the the email address won't work, but feel free to lodge a complaint anyway.
Here is a sample of what to expect from the house. These are only a few links and none of them have anything to do with the game.
May you all make it out alive!

Hi, Junie Bee. :-) Thanks for reading my porn ms.
June, how wonderful to see you!
John, you win bragging rights for being first. It is, after all, every wombat's dream.
Then left. Didn't linger.
I doubt it was Junie B.
Her only weapon is a stinger.
Junie I haven't seen you at the party. Nothing to fear.. really. grin
Mrs. Winchester seems to be warming up to us.
But, um, which one of these is our chat thread now?!
But I could be wrong. Again.
I hope that wasn't cheating.
LMS is sooooooo Jill. Snowman icon. I mean it's soooooo obvious. :o)
I'll say it again - Wendy and team, this was AMAZING!!!
So, I don’t think we will hear much more from sweet Abby. She is leaving the Wombat world behind her as she goes to seek her fortune in the real world. Let us all hope that she has learned a bit from us older and wiser marsupials here, and that she will manage just fine with whatever talents she does actually possess.
Farewell, Abby, all the best to you.
I'm glad you all had fun.
Pat B. wrote most of the cryptic clues (which is how the house got so big). How could I leave a single one out?
Sy graciously allowed us access to the now famous actress Abby. Take a bow Sy.. since Abby is west coast bound.
We kinda forgot about setting up the motive as the fun of confusing all of you swept us away. And knowing what a clever wisdom you are we didn't want to make it too easy.
Dale thank you for hiding in the stove.. and being such a good sport. I hope we didn't damage your diary too much.
Torva guessed Dale first. Up with the statues in the copula was a link 'Not Yet', I set 'Now' to open when she guessed the killer.
Mrs. Winchester even declared her brilliant. You were all having so much fun, who was I to end it all? grin
And now you all understand why I had a map. The only way to keep up was from the list of posts.. when Beth asked how to get to the seance room.. even I couldn't find it through the house. blushing.
I've got to get some stuff done in real life. So who's doing the next one?
I did get confused over which clues were clues. Suddenly people were talking about glasses, but I hadn't seen that clue. It must have been introduced in a comment, and it was hard trying to keep up with all the threads! Fun, but hard. Hubby started grumbling over the extraordinary quantity of typing and clicking (and muttering, and snorking) noises, and finally took his book to another room.
I can only speak for one Mrs. Winchester.. who will be happy to assume her quiet life within her extraordinary house.
I'm going to leave all of it up.. so wander at will.
golfing
Well, I had to read the whole thing to remember where I was going in the story, so I've only written 685 words. Boo. But I'm back on track so the words should come easier now.
Three cheers for the dual Mrs. Winchesters!
Oops did I say that out loud.
LMS = not Jill
Silence Golden = Jill
I went through the articles. You guys are too funny. Shaking my head, I'm gonna need a new keyboard. Pity, this one's 10 and I've barely broken it in. ; > )
I noticed some points which could have been done better.
A. The primer article should have gone up earlier.
B. The important clues needed to be better defined. ?
C. The motive over sight caused a good deal of confusion.. better, clearer motive and goals. ?
D. The set up on the chat threads could have been better as well. Next time.?
What did work.
A. Opening rooms as we progressed. (I missed one and released it this morning. Hang my head)
B. The anchor threads worked very well.. bopping between them didn't seem to be overly confusing.
C. Wandering Mrs. Winchesters worked well too. (Sia she's not happy with you. Old bat indeed.)
--------
Alters you need to come out and tell us who the heck you are.. dash it all!
What worked and didn't work in your view. Should we do this again using this as a learning tool would be a good idea.
{{{{{{{Jill}}}}}}}} our little mime, how wonderful! How are you feeling m'dear?
So, who is Little Miss Sunshine? Honest, she wasn't me. Looks like there's another mystery to be solved. :-)
Glad you're feeling better, Jill. It's about time for the cedars to go into rut. That means allergies for me. Not fun.
And Dale got burnt.
I'm still dead.
That's all I learnt.
I don't know how to do simple.. perhaps a scavenger hunt.. hmm?
You guys have no idea what my family has had to deal with.. the mad article builder, maniacal laughter was involved. Yeah, me and simple don't seem to meld very well. grin
Other alters out thyselves!
You all have heard me talk about Steph, my critique partner. (I guess that should now be "one of my critique partners" - right, Beth? LOL) I've published some articles on her Ellora's Cave books (6 to date! woo hoo, Steph!). So, she gets a google alert that her name has popped up in a dabwaha.com contest. We have no clue. So we go investigate.
Somehow, she got nominated for the Dear Author/Smart Bitches Helluva Good Author March Madness - one of 8 books in her category. They've got 8 categories with 8 books in each and over the next month, just like basketball March Madness, they're going to whittle it down to a winner. THe winner gets a Sony Reader (not to mention all this focus). She's in with some BIG name authors! Anyhoo, here's the link. You have to sign up and pick a team and vote and help advance, etc. It could be fun and I'm SURE Steph would appreciate it.
64 Books. 1 Champion. Get Your Game On.
Stephanie Julian is in the erotica category and here's her book cover:
1660 words today. I feel like I'm writing slower than usual. Not sure why. I do find it challenging to write erotic scenes in a male POV, since I've technically never experienced that side of it. I probably fudged it pretty badly. I felt the reader needed to see how this "muse" thing worked though, which made the male POV necessary. But that scene is finally done. On to something a little easier.
I'll say again what a blast last night was. Excellent all around. Scavenger hunt would be wonderful for our next adventure, not that I'm volunteering or anything.
Jill was Silence. That's one alter. I'm guessing Ken was Moe. I may go looking around again. A great achievement.
I missed Moe's unveiling.
