Tomorrow (11th) we would have celebrated Dan's birthday...

there is alway two sides,, what about the others involve they get nothing,, not fair,, yes not right how he went off,, just he wanted to express it in his own way....

I have seen him verbally attack people in the past. I was not connected to him or most of the people that I saw him go after. However, not long ago he decided to go after one, Fr. St. John of the Cross for NO reason and the complaints went unheeded by Gather. My understanding was that Fr. St. John received a bit of a chiding from management. I'm glad to see that action was taken and DT was removed, but why does it take something of this magnitude? Or is it WHO the person is attacking that matters? Those are my questions.

Gather really had no choice but to remove the problem, the parties involved really left no other option.

I am not sure who this person is, i recognize the name, but I can imagine it would not be hard for a person to come back if they wanted to.

Some people thrive on drama. I'm not one of them, so I'm glad that I missed it.

Gather should give people some slack, so I understand why they wait to remove someone. They are going that extra mile. Since there are two or more sides to a story, they don't want to make a mistake.

I don't know the whole story, just parts of it. I just find it sad all the way around.

I feel bad for him....wonder what went wrong...it just does not sound like him at all....I also feel for the people he was attacking as nobody deserves to be spoken/typed to like that....

Guys the words that came out of his mouth were so cruel, vulgar and horrifying...that the only way for you to believe it, was to see if for yourself. It was not a pretty picture.

For those of you that missed what happened last night, it was horrible, sick & gross... it really was.

I can also say without a doubt that the only reason he's getting support right now is because those people have missed all the times he's verbally attacked others and then quickly removed all traces of it ever happening. This way he comes across like a lovable bear and not the grizzly he was last night.

Being on the receiving end of it myself from him... I'm happy that Gather removed him. Now I just wonder how long it will take him to come back as an alter. Or maybe he already has one and is reading all of this right now?

This is the first I have heard of any of what has happened, and still do not know what it was all about. Or with whom.I will pray for all involved .

Teresa - I agree that the only way to believe was to see it yourself. My mouth was wide open and was in total disbelief that it was happening. Well, not TOTAL disbelief since I've seen similar things like this come from him before.

I have the article copied though ... I copied it right before I went to bed last night. I was really hoping it would still be viewable this morning but it looks like it's been removed.

i saw all of the things that dan comment on my feed late last night and even commented on the article in question because i was just simply shocked!! i'm not surprised that gather removed him... very strange that he just snapped like that.

I don't think it's a matter of Dan 'snapping', honestly.

I know it sounds totally crazy for this to happen but the thing is, things like this have happened before but he'd delete his comments real quick so there would be no proof that it occurred.

Last night though, people took screen shots of his comments or copied & pasted them into the comment section and within the actual article so Gather could actually SEE that it happened.

Well, if he's always been that way he fooled me. We were connected until earlier this year having been connected for a couple of years. An incident then caused me to disconnect. But whether he snapped or not, the conduct was inexcusable, the language disgusting and the actions by Gather were pretty much unavoidable.

Something's wrong with him. That much is clear. Hopefully he has some support at home.

That is to bad. I hope he can find another way to vent his anger.

Maybe someone else use his account, and didn't he lost some gift cards too? Maybe the other person routed his gift card to somewhere else too.

DT and I were also connected. I missed whatever happened last night and I remember him as a good person. But I do have to say that Gather does not take removing someone from the site lightly. I'm sure he said some pretty nasty stuff if it lead to his removal.

Dan? The Photographer Dan? The Bear dan? I don't believe it. WOW. Always known him to be kind. Last year on his birthday I gave him a female grizzly to mate with. Happy Birthday dan and until somebody proves to me otherwise you got a bum deal.

I'm glad I kind of figured out who he is but I wonder what he did to make him do whatever it was he did or said - was he provoked in some way??? Someone message me so I can know...I always liked him if it was the teddy bear Dan. Salud

He was on my friend list, but I never paid any attention to him. He went bad, eh? That's one of the nice things about the invisible friend thing, if they go nuts, they can be deleted, you sure can't do that in real life. Since I don't know what went on, just reading your comments leads me to the conclusion that the man may be a schizophrenic. If so, he suffers in more ways than just being kicked off of the gather network. I hope he will be okay and the only one that I remember him really attacking was Father St. John Of The Cross. That was sad.

Dan is a wonderful person and photographer. I missed what happened but a person can only take so much Gather Bullying, I hope Gather looked into BOTH SIDES.
This is exactly why people take month long breaks from Gather.

How sad! I'm so sorry that this happened to you Teresa! I always thought Dan was sweet but I guess we all have a side that we keep hidden!

From what I've been reading on a couple of posts I found it seems that Dan is gone for something he said/did that was pretty horrible!
But that wasn't the Dan that I knew here.....
I feel sad for the loss of so many things that he gave here--I enjoyed his pictures so much!!
I never knew him to be anything other than nice, and polite...

My 2 cents for anyone who cares.

I witnessed the particular nastiness the other night.

The irony of it. I was on a thread with Dan discussing pork in the stimulus bill and the fact that one of the pork items was x amount of dollars to help teachers deal with bullying. I was for it Dan was against it. He said that everyone bullies and there is nothing that can be done.

Next thing I know he is going to a certain persons thread and calling names and worse.

Things get heated here and feelings get hurt. From both sides. However there is a line and he crossed it.

If I call someone a dumb arse that is just me name calling and trying to get a reaction...which will happen by the person I name called calling me a stupid biatch. Pretty standard.

Now if I tell that person to go perform oral sex on their child...I have crossed a line.

Then I say that person is known to have sex with children...again another line.

Say you and your neighbor dont get along. There has been bad blood for years...along with name calling and other non sense.

Then you go take an add out in the local paper and say that your neighbor is a child molester.

The neighbor would haul your butt into court for slander faster than gather can kick someone off here.

I dont think anyone is saying that we have to take sides and that Dan is the devil incarnate.

Sure we have freedom of speech but along with that we accept the consequences of that freedom. In this case someone crossed a line with his free speech and his consequences are that he was removed.

Plus its not like he died. He is still alive and thriving I hope.

I don't even know who this person is. Now I'm curious. The only Dan on Gather I know is the one who is in the medical profession.
