Gather: I hate your rating system

Does anyone have a hard time getting your 10's in?  Something blocks it, and when you try to move to a 10 in the star system some screen pulls down and gets in the way.   I like to give 10's but it's easier to give a 1.  I don't do that, so I usually don't rate.  The rating system is usually just a bully system anyway, but I do like to give out 10's if possible.  Gather needs to fix this or do away with it.  Just a Tuesday whine.

I totally agree! For the last few days, I've been having all sorts of problems, trying to do the rating thing....wish Gather would just get rid of it........good post, Carol!

Yep, I hear what you are preaching. Got to where I just quit rating all together. But, a 10 for ya, assuming I don't mess it up and hit the one. :.)

I often turn off the ratings part on my posts because it doesn't help get points unless we get the most "10's" and I have too many trolls who intentionally low rate me so I don't see any point in frustrating myself. Trolls are cowards. They don't have the guts to comment and legitimately give a reason for low ratings and I'm not going to give them the opportunity to low rate me when it just frustrates me. I'd rather focus on comments and on my friends here.

i totally agree; the bookmark page covers the stars making it difficult to rate 10's. usually i don't rate - just view / comment

I don't hold any credibility in the rating system here in the first place. One troll can knock you down just because they're idiots handing our Drive By '1's' to those they have it in for...or to unseat someone in Gather's Top 100 Highest Rated list. I've seen excellent articles with low numbers, but then, I see crap posts with '10's' across the board when they actually should receive much lower. I don't get how someone can pick up dozens of '10's' for simple 'Name A Word' games or as little as posting a link to something else with the title of the post being the only thing the person has written. It's not a fair system at all to those who publish decent articles with fluff being rated higher.

I have always had a problem with Gargers drop down meny and rating system. I have recently started turning my ratings off. What's the point anyways? We have to many trolls and meanies to have any the ratings count for anything.

I don't have any problems with the rating system. Perhaps, it's because I have a wide screen computer. However, the bookmark one pops up all the time even when I'm nowhere near it. It often blocks the article or rating. I don't know if people even use that part of Gather.

Sometimes it takes me five or six times before I rate someone. It is frustrating. Just move the darn thing, Gather.

yes, it's a pain because it then takes that box forever to go away so you can rate...but on the other hand, I am now using twitter, which is in that share box, so I can click that to share the link to my posts and stuff on twitter to get a lot more views!

trying to rate is a pain in the arse... I too experience all those issues.. I opt not to allow ratings on my posts but some like the ratings, it is getting annoying when the stupid box pops up...

The pull down menu for bookmarking always drops down and stays down. It is highly annoying. I don't put too much merit in the rating system anyway and have been getting out of the habit of using it.

I hate that menu next to the ratings that gets in the way. I always try to give 10's but sometimes give up when the menu won't go away.

I REALLY wish they would just get rid of the rating system but it helps stir up controversy and MORE VIEWS, so they won't.
