BOTH parties are in disarray and don't really know what they're doing!

I think both parties are leading us toward a 'party' revolution. Time to get rid of the old and introduce a new party. I'm very seriously thinking of getting on the 'term limits' bandwagon.

I agree with the earlier comments. I don't see any of the parties united or organized.

I would say the GOP are in disarray more so than the Dems, the GOP really seem to be without leadership and ideas other than more of the same.

But seriously, I think there is a change brewing in the party, a “downsizing” as it were. Part of the problem of any party that has a “majority” is how to maintain that numerical advantage. The result is the devaluation of the “brand” of that party, as well as its party name. Another part of the problem is the presence of a strong leader who may not be in accord with the true “brand” of the party. This takes the party “off message” and it requires a bit of time to find the message again that they always had from the beginning.

Finally the loss of any leader from the top, good or bad, causes a leadership vacuum that takes a while for any party to sort out. Everyone who wants to “lead” has their own unique spin and agenda.

This is really true for either party in various times throughout history. I think it’s going to be impossible to find a clear leader on the national level for at least a year. Note that people often confuse the visionaries and the prophets of the party with leaders. I think we can safely say that moveon.org was never a Democratic “leader” but it did set the agenda during the Bush presidency as Limbaugh seems to be doing for the Republican agenda under Obama.

“Leadership” is the one who quietly makes it possible for every opposing party congressman to be challenged by a strong candidate with a good chance of success. Is there leadership in the Republican Party? We will have to find out.

I think as a party they aren't much different now than ever. The disarray stems from the influence of the evangelical right. They seem to be behind the anti-obama movement found within their party.

I think they both are. But as for myself, being a former Demo, now independent,
I am hoping that Americans will remember that WE are the ones who elect our
