animals are more than capeable of love....no offence, your teacher is an idiot!! tell him to soften that rock in his chest, get a dog and then tell you they do not love if treated well!

We can't know for sure. People DO tend to project human emotions on to animals. We rationalize their actions & say "they act like this, it must be love," because that is our, HUMAN, definition of love. Maybe to them it means something different. I think that is probably what your teacher is trying to convey...

I, also, think that Cara has a good point, but I do believe dogs have feelings and emotions, but probably not quite in the same way we do. They may be simpler than human emotions, but we can't know for sure unless we can ask the dog to describe them.

I know my Daisy loves me. You can see it in their eyes... and their actions. I would not be able to listen to someone who doesn't not believe that, I think your teacher needs teaching. :)

Dogs certainly love. They also choose WHO to love and HOW MUCH to love them.

Take our dogs for instance. I bought a labrador who was supposed to be my dog, but he prefers my husband. He will lay at his feet, and spends all his time with him.

We also have a street rescued dog who was supposed to be my husbands dog, but Rusty just adores me. He spends all his time at my side, and listens to me as he doesn't my husband.

Both of them love both of us, but each dog has its favorite person, which was not the same as the person the dog was MEANT to belong to.

Not only do they love but they get jealous. Sparkie was my fiance's dog first and when I moved in she moped around for a few days and then decided to take matters into her own paws. Whenever I sit by my fiance on the couch she has to nudge her way between us. When he gets home from work and pays attention to me first, Sparkie starts barking. She is always trying to get between us!

obviously your psychology teacher is mistaken I have been around animals for years. Both wild and domestic I believe some believe other creatures can't love only to rationalize our eating them
